Your Last Concert (or two)

Karol Komenda Group, release party for the first EP "Secret"

Well, I had an invitiation to the party in Prague, Czech Republic...;-)

To the music:

It's riff-based blues-rock, inspired by Led Zep or Richie Kotzen with some Hendrix and Clapton shining through.
No imitation of those bands, but quite unique hard rock. I had the smallest share in the production process, and I'm
really proud of the achievment!

February 8, 2019 - The Locks at Sona in the Manyaunk section of Philadelphia, PA.

Teddy Thompson - a tremendous show in a very intimate (~125 seat) venue. This is the new incantation and replacement of the legendary Tin Angel which closed in 2017. Teddy was in great voice and humor, and his guitar playing is second to none. He did a mix of new, old, and older. Seems like he never performs in the States any more, so good luck tracking him down. If you can he is well worth the effort.

February 9, 2019 - The Xcite Center at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA

Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience Tour - As I noted in the 90's thread, I used to go see them in the 1980's when they were a Hell-of-an-unknown Arizona bar band. Then this record hit in the 90's. For this tour they play the whole album (as well as some other stuff). And they did a Radiohead cover as part of their encore. I think the tour is just starting.

Wallace
DTW from Corvalis OR. First show in Portland.

Went to see King Buffalo last night in Burlington, VT. It was definitely one of the best shows I've been to. The band sounded great, they were definitely heavier live than on the album. Smaller crowd, maybe 80 people, so you could get right up front. The sound was perfect, loud but not overly so and well mixed.

The vibe was awesome, they play really trippy psych (comparable to Pink Floyd at times). The guitar player had great tone and mastery of delay effects. The bass player also used a lot of effects to keep the psychedelia going and the drummer was no slouch either. The music sounded really layered and gets your head bobbing. Just really cool. Highly recommend these guys.

The opening band was pretty cool too. Lake Superior was their name. They played a kind of garage/psych/blues. I bought one of their cassettes just for fun.

Oh wow, that sounds really good. And, apparently, they're from right down the road and are playing here in a couple of weeks. Think I'm going to have to go.

Yeah, you should try to go. These guys are up and coming, definitely the real deal. I'm seriously considering going to see them in Boston in a couple months. If you go, let me know what you think.

I put it on my calendar and am planning on going. There’s three other bands I’ve never heard of on the bill, too, so should be a fun night.
