Ok, here's a quick update! The repair shop called me today and told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it and it's working just fine. I told him what the problem with it was and he said they'd do some more testing on it and call me later this week.

I checked the fuses with a multimeter, they seemed fine. I took it to a shop today and I'll let you guys know what the problem was. Wish I'd come back and checked this thread (and the fuses) before taking it over there. D'oh! Oh well. EDIT: This Nakamichi receiver sounds pretty sweet though...

I can't compare the Behringer to the U-Turn preamp, but I upgraded from the Behringer one to an ART USB Phono Plus and it was a very noticeable upgrade. The Behringer preamp seemed to have really reserved bass and a narrow sound stage.
