WMSE out of Milwaukee had a really clever and original mash-up this morning of Bob Uecker call-playing recordings from Brewers games with a bed of mood music from Twin Peaks ... wonderful tribute to Uecker and David Lynch who both died yesterday. These are the moments that keep me coming back to...
This thread is really making me miss my 2012 Camry XLE, which I sold last year (because the pickup trucks are getting too damned big and aggressive and I was starting to feel like a sitting (or rolling) duck, so moved up to a RAV4 that gives me a bit better protection). That Camry went 12 years...
What exactly is the point of the exposed belt connected to the cylinder on the left? I presume it's just design hookey-dookey without a true performance advantage but I'm happy to be schooled on it. It reminds me of the Fluance TT's -- I just don't get why it would make sense to expose the...
Wow, I'm having a flashback to a field trip to a radio station when I was in college, ca 1981-2. They had a huge carousel that held maybe 50 or so carts (similar to 8 tracks but single play) with DJ comments and ads pre-recorded on some number of them. An early instance of robots replacing...
The symmetry of having both decks on top is just more visually appealing, IMO. And if I were a guest in your house I'd be more impressed by the turntables being side by side -- having one below it looks like that one's in the shop for repairs or at least demoted.
Thank you to the people who were kind enough to go to the trouble to take pix of their connections and post them here, but they'd be a lot more helpful if the labels were visible. I see cabling and connectors but it's not at all clear what connections / ins and outs are being used. I've tried to...
Aha, thank you Manfred -- I obviously was not aware of the whole Dual line. According to Google, the 601 retailed for $100, and that sounds about right for what I could have afforded in a serious brand. Wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the one.
This question is purely in hopes of satisfying my idle curiosity, I'm not buying or selling or fixing. I figure there are people on here who love these questions, so here's the post:
In 1978, I bought my first legit sound system with money earned washing dishes: a pair of EPI 70 speakers...
True that expensive wine can be no better than inexpensive wine, depending on lots of factors, including how it was stored. Also true that some expensive wines can reach heights of tasting and olfactory pleasure that no boxed wine will ever come close to. You pays your money, you takes your chance.
Interesting question from the OP. Looking at it a little more generally, I'd say you can't jump up too high -- as long as you have the cash. As others have said, if you're looking at upgrading the overall sound, and you have a finite amount of money to accomplish that, it may make less sense to...
It's phenomenal. Heartbreakingly bleak but they've never been better. Some fantastic guitar solos. Already one of my all-time favorite albums. Listened to it on spotify and was so impressed I had to pay them some real money and bought the LP. Very nice recording on 180g vinyl.
