Got a VPI Scout - suggestions for the rest! System build

I would say as a general rule it is best to pick a speaker and then choose an amp that mates well with the speaker ... vs the other way around. I haven't heard the X32 but they are fairly insensitive at 87dB and at 4ohm could be hard to drive. I would guess (really truly a guess) that you...

Got a VPI Scout - suggestions for the rest! System build

Ok so I searched my post history and I remember doing a little write up on the 5350 ... apparently it has PRaT too :) I would say that build quality is a potential concern (if you believe the interwebz). However, an 8 year old amp that has been lightly used should present little concern. But...

Got a VPI Scout - suggestions for the rest! System build

Well shoot that certainly makes things interesting doesn't it. I don't think you could go wrong with either choice. The Creek was a more expensive amp when new and has more wattage. IIRC the pre-amp was considered to be a very strong point. I remember the Brio-R as being super fun with lot's...

Got a VPI Scout - suggestions for the rest! System build

My understanding is that the Rega warranties are not transferable. So assuming without warranty I would want to know the age of the Creek and then the price difference (if any). On the other hand, you are kind of on a budget and not having to buy a separate phono stage is a real cost...

    Decware Question

I know I love my Torii. The new Torii Jr. looks very interesting at 20 watts and a special introductory price is being offered to mailing list members. It probably is still more than you want to spend but those 20 watts provide some pretty nice headroom.

I owned both the Creek and the Brio-r and both are fine amps. If it were me, I would do the Brio R as it comes with a nice phono stage and warranty.

    Fisher Rochester NY. RUN!

Congrats on the score. No hard feelings here. Even though it was a great deal my wife probably still wouldn't understand why I needed another amp. :)

    Clearaudio vs VPI

Congrates, I'm sure you will love it ... I know that I do.

Another Reason That Analog Is The Best

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I love my fios service. Other than the fact that the price has slowly crept up over the past couple of years the internet speed is great for a fairly reasonable sum.

(HOW TO) Turning a Pogoplug E02 into a music player.

Yeah messing with stuff always gets me in trouble. I have a cubiebox that I use for a fileserver, openvpn server, madsonic, etc ... and I hadn't updated it for a while. Well last week I couldn't leave well enough alone and the kernel update screwed the whole pooch. Had to start over. Good part...

(HOW TO) Turning a Pogoplug E02 into a music player.

I have read many good things about the Pi 2 for audio. If I were to get a new one of these devices I would seriously consider going that route. Both my plugs are still going strong so I have no need to upgrade at the moment.

Getting the best out of PC audio

This times 100. If you do not specifically set up your audio player to bypass windows mixer it will by default mix everything to 16/48 and not in the fancy high quality way some upsampling dacs do.
