I really don't know. It was on the amp when I first bought it and the tech who added the binding posts, fuse and power switch left it in place. I think it's a lazy man's ground buss. I just left it there. My original intent was that I wanted to just hear what the amp sounded like first...
Here's a pix of mine which is mostly stock. I left the preamp circuit in and use an out board Blue velvet for volume control. Mates well with 50~60's jazz and vocals. I kept the original 6V6GT's in, but went for new Sovtek 12AX7LPS for the preamp tubes.
No nothing in particular I see some Eico, Heathkit, etc. Most of what I have been collecting is EL84 (Fisher 480, Knight 1515, Magnavox 8603 & 196, etc), but I have some Inspire 6FLV and Magnavox 185, amps too.
Did anyone make a master list of what everyone brought? I'm a part-time WNC resident and unfortunately I missed this event. I can Identify some of the gear but not all. Please advise. THX.
B-Side, I haven't done it yet, but I plan on trying a CV181 in the center 6SN7 slot. I have seen a bunch of others who tried/recommended this. Otherwise I am running NOS RCA upfront and Shuguang KT88 Treasure's in the rear. I still need to put a few more hours on all of them and then I plan...
I've had pretty good luck with HDTracks. They allow parallel downloads, so you can get pretty fast downloads. They offer multiple formats (just depends on the content).
Yes, I understand that point, but DH makes a point of suggesting that a lot of configurations are possible. Here is a table from his instruction manual sent with his units which pairs the various output tube "families" with suggested rectifiers. He also suggests that you can can use either...
I recently picked up a used Inspire 6FLV (2020) and I am exploring it's capabilities. I have seen some of the various comments about 6SN7 vs 6SL7, 5AR4 vs 5U4, NOS vs New, Chinese tubes, etc. but what I am looking for are any suggestions relating to your favorite tube combinations for this...
