When I initially start it up for a while. Can’t help but think some capacitors in the signal path going bad? Any other thoughts. The meters actually don’t show signal when it fades out then do again when it fades back in.
if it is capacitors, any thoughts on which I should replace?
after it...
I see what I am dealing with here now, when you grow up maybe we can have a discussion. for now adios.
Wait are you the guy I bought the amp from on EBay, LOL.
As for those who posted genuinely trying to help, I really appreciate the help.
yeah, didn't want to help you should have just moved on, buddy.
anyone who has taken a look at one of these manuals knows they aren't
always that easy to follow. Especially when troubleshooting.
No lost sleep here. Just a tip so as not to make newbies like myself feel unwelcome here in the...
We'll, yeah, but there is no mute button on the unit. So if you lose the remote you are essentially SOL. And the auto muting when speakers are disconnected isn't intuitive.
Btw there is no light marked mute. the light on the volume dial indicating where in the range it is simply flashes...
And boom, the easiest and quickest repair ever! Here's what I found out about this amp.
The only mute button is on the remote. The guy I bought this from says he doesn't have a remote.
So what I think happened is that some stray remote signal from something else put it in mute. I bought a...
Actually I worded my question rather poorly, I was trying to ask if the standby is typically triggered by protection mode, or could it trigger the mute circuit instead. I am no electrical engineer so please excuse my ignorance on the topic.
I just realized that the standby indicator is not what is flashing, it is the mute indicator (reading the manual does actually help sometimes). Could the mute indicator flashing mean something other than it is in protection mode?
Just a shot in the dark here. The service manual is easy enough to get, so I have a copy of it. The amp goes into protection as soon as you turn it on. The reset procedures I have found in the manual and online don't change anything. Still goes right into protection. I know how to test three...
Thanks guys. I already recapped the m12 (I have had it a while) using Silmic on the channel boards and Muse in the power supply. I rarely get to turn the amp up loud, so heat shouldn' be too much of an issue.
