Are you talking about the doped bottom woofer? It doesn’t deteriorate. And it’s impossible to replicate. Infinity hand tuned them with it.

If they have replacement woofers, then yes. Stay away. Column II are nice speakers. But you’ve already got nice speakers.

I'm a big fan of the Column II, but they're not better than B&W Matrix 802 Series 3. And don't even touch them if their woofers have been replaced. The bottom woofers are specially doped and can't easily be replicated. I don't have any experience with the Beethoven you've referenced, so can't say.

Your ax596 is a pretty powerful amp and is rated down to 2 ohm, which is good. It's probably fine. Maybe borrow a dedicated amp from someone to try out, or try a tube amp on them if you have a chance. 25-50 wpc tube amps usually sound great on SDAs.

The WTLC is one of the coolest Infinity speakers and sounds great, but it's not in the same league sound-wise as the QLS. And I own a fully restored pair of WTLC. If I was downsizing from QLS, I would be looking at Quantum 2 or Quantum 3 since they share sound signatures. Ren 80 or 90 are good...
