Yes, many Thanks.
I've used the computer's line out to the Amp with a 3.5 jack and RCA's to the aux on the Amp, and I notice that I've got to attenuate the volume considerably. The sound isn't bad but I think it should be better using a coax audio cable from the pc to the amp. And I'm completely...
my amp has a built in DAC. If i go audio coax from my pc. tower to the amp audio coax, wouldn't i be using the amps DAC?
Just trying to get spotifty to the amp with the best quality sound. If after i do this , i'd like to try a bluetooth devise to compare the sound.
I'am waiting on a new set of speakers i've ordered to try them with both the Denon amp and the cambridge topaz amp/receiver.
As of now the Denon hasn't given any problems (protect mode) or otherwise whilst being used with the other cheap 8 ohm speakers.
Their is no know shortage i can tell...
No short I could find.
I checked connections at both ends. A short could occur at any time, not just on startup, correct?
The Denon amp only went red (protect) intermittently upon startup.
Exactly.
The DCM's are doing fine paired with the Cambridge audio topaz receiver for now. And the Denon amp has not gone into protect mode on startup (yet) since I changed speakers. I guess for now it's wait and see. Thanks.
The Cambridge topaz paired with the DCM's hasn't had any issues so far.
And the difference in sound between the Denon (at 50 WPC/8 ohm) and the Topaz (at 85) is
(wattage notwithstanding)
very apparent. In a good way.....
Could it be that the relatively lower power of the Denon was...
I moved the amp to a different room, assuming its a different circuit. Using the D.C.M.(8 ohm) speakers it immediately went RED.
So i hooked up a pair of CHEAP (8 ohm) bookshelf speakers and as of YET...(numerous times) its not gone into RED on startup.
As a side note i replaced the drivers...
The unit does not go green until its turned off and back on.
Usually the unit does not go red the 2nd time. I turn the Amp back on at various times, usually after a few seconds.
Ok,.....I'm moving the amp to another room, as suggested. The voltage sag/drop does sound plausible, because of the intermittent nature of the fault.
If it were a speaker short wouldn't it cause it to go into a protect mode?
Nothing is stated in the owners manual about protection circuit going red on startup except .."amplifier circuit failure"
Therefor the only action i could take was what i read in the manual.
But for future reference, i'll wait for it to clear (go green).
Thanks everyone, for your help.
I"ll...
To "on the bitz" Yes it blinks. so i just shut it off and haven't waited for it to go green.
Yes, i was concerned their was a problem so i immediately shut it off.
I've never owned a unit that would do this.
Yes, i do hear a relay "click" when it goes green. The owners manual makes no mention of waiting for the unit to go from red to green. only that the "amplifier circuit has failed', so i have never waited for it to go from red to green. Are you saying i should wait for the unit to come out of the...
