I have one other question about these turntables. Are you using some kind of foam material sandwiched underneath where the springs are tightened? I've tried a few different materials
Thanks for your response. I thought this was probably the case. Unfortunately I don't have the original metal connectors, rubber connectors or shaft. It doesn't look I'll be able to get this turntable working properly unless I can find that part.
I know this thread is a bit old but I was wondering if anyone could recommend the kind of oil they used in their worm gear? Mine started leaking quite badly and Im going to try cutting a new gasket.
I also realized on mine that the WOW and flutter is quite bad. I haven't worked on this hh...
I've owned a pair of Hifiman he500 headphones that I bought used a couple years ago. Unfortunately I noticed today that one of the jacks on the headphone broke. I was thinking of replacing both jacks with 2.5mm female ports. Any advice on opening the headphones and on good quality 2.5mm female...
600 is a pretty fair price for an original unrestored st70. It should be in fairly decent cosmetic condition for that price. I think if you waited you could probably get one for a little less but 600 is fair. The cosmetic condition plays a pretty big factor in the price.
I would agree that it's slowing down in general. I've noticed it over the last year or year and a half and it seems to be different than the regular ebb and flow.
I used to be able to sell things on marketplace pretty easily. Lately I've been trying to downsize my collection and the only way...
I was wondering if anyone has a technician/business that they would recommend for restoring my SME 3009 II early split weight unimproved tonearm.
Specifically, I saw an ad for smetonearms in Rochester, NY and was wondering if anyone has used them and what the experience was like. In the ad it...
Just wanted to follow up on this thread. I have been listening to first pair for the past few months and have really been enjoying them.
I decided to try the other pair again and get back to troubleshooting them. I adjusted the bias on them and no hum at all. The bias on one of the monoblocks...
Isn't my B+ still too high?
Also I have the center tap wired into the ground of the third cap. I read that it's supposed to be connected to the ground off of the first cap in the filter supply instead. Does this matter?
The HV winding does have a center tap. It's supposed to be 300v, but I just took a reading and I'm getting around 310v. The original schematic calls for 290v. I wonder if this is causing the issue with the high B+. Or maybe I have a bad solder joints at the first filter cap.
On the 6ca4 rectifier I have the heaters wired to pins 4,5. The 300v from the transformer is wired to 1 and 7. I'm taking the output from the rectifier at pin 3.
Is this correct?
I took some measurements and there are some issues.
On the schematic the B+ is labelled A. It's supposed to be 285v but I'm getting 378vDC
