The Chord with the Nano

I've spent the last 4 weeks extensively testing one of my Pro's my Pro Plus, an Ultra and the Bluesound Nano in various configurations using their onboard DAC's, using my Arcam SA30's DAC and also a recently bought Chord Qutest both via Optical / Coax and also USB into the Chord ... in the end...

The DAC in the WiiM Mini, and Pro isn't great, personally I'd get whichever you choose and try it on it's own with analogue out into your amp and then compare it to digital out and into your Modi before you make a decision. The WiiM Pro Plus has a better DAC than the others, another alternative...

That was one of the others I was considering, most feedback seems to suggest it's very detailed but not much warmth, was that your experience? If so maybe it shows it's not jsut abut the science and how well they measure.

If anyone's heard the above and can give comparisons / preferences would be much appreciated ... I hear a Qutest for the 1st time today and must admit really liked it, wish I could hear the others to compare as they get a lot of positive reviews but aren't widely available to trial in the UK...

Only if you want HiRes multiroom music as the mini can't cope with that.

I guess for them though it makes more commercial sense to have the 2 options, one as a basic cheap and chearful entry level option and one at a higher price point with some bells & whistles added.

I think the OP can pretty much rest assured his system isn't "fatiguing" .... if it was the questions needn't have been asked as you have an instant understanding of the meaning without explanation :D .... that's how I discovered the meaning anyway.

I'm not sure when exactly when I started using Amazon but you used to buy goods without any postage cost and they'd be here the next day .... to me they did this as a way to capture an audience and once they had you find other ways to increase revenue by introducing a lesser service unless you...

In the Wiim App on the bottom left hand side click on Browse ... a list of music services will come up, log into both Amazon Alexa and also Amazon Music. I can't remember if I then had to go into the Amazon Alea App on your phone / tablet and Add Device or if because I'd logged into Amazon...

If you're using Amazon Music and their App on the Kindle, you may be able to cast from that to the WiiM although I've never used a Kindle so don't know. Personally I don't use the WiiM App, I much refer the Amazon Music App so use that the whole time instead.

Most people believe so as the internal DAc on the WiiM isn't great, doesn't need to be hugely expensive, something like a Topping E30.

It's funny different people's takes on the App, personally I really don't get on with it. I've stuck with Amazon Music simply because it's easy to cast from their App to the WiiM and I much prefer the interface. It's just one person's preference against someone else's though so not a criticism.
