7000 button labels

I am in the process of having some button labels made for my 7000. I should have prototypes to look at some time next week. I hope they turn out well. If they do i will get plenty to share...:D... I know what buttons the 7000 has, and from what I can tell, between the SIX,SEVEN,EIGHT, and the EIGHT DELUXE other labels would be BALANCE CHECK, 4ch ADAPTER, and N.R. ADAPTER. Are there any other ones I am missing, I want to make sure I have them all covered...

Cool! :thmbsp: As long as they look good, I'll order a set, & offset the costs a little for ya. Of course that has nothing to do with the fact that you can't find them anywhere else. ;) :D

The signmaker says they will look almost identical to the originals. The only difference is the originals are on what looks like an aluminum base. These will be black vinyl with the words printed on and laminated to keep from wearing the letters. Maybe with the lamination they will be thick enough to look right. Altho he is still trying to come up with a thicker base vinyl. They will be cut out to the proper size by the computer after printing. (There was no way I was gonna get them cut out right and straight by hand.) I figure it has to be worth a shot to get some made. My 7000 is near perfect except for the labels, It even still has the blue protective plastic on the aluminum trim...

Yep, mine needs a little work on the wood case, and a few bulbs, but is otherwise in very good shape. Maybe this will motivate me to get it done right.

There are a lot of people that need those labels for single digit series receivers. You may be on to a good thing here if they look like the originals.

I have not given up yet. I have some that I think will be the best I can do. They look pretty good. It has been 40 trips to the sign shop to finally get the size and font right. The first ones were .250X.500. I finally have them the same as the originals at .290X.570. The other problem was the buttons are made with a recess, but they also have a secondary recess about .050 around the edge of where the label sits. This means the label has nothing to stick to there. The first few materials would try to curl. This latest stuff along with some tougher laminate seems to work pretty good. Here are some pics. Hopefully it will not be much longer before I have some finished product...Hmmm Cant seem to get the pics to upload. I will try again tomorrow.

those are amazing, and as long as they fit good in the button it doesn't matter much if they're precisely like orig. I needed some once and made dymo labels(sold the 7000 eventually) and they were ok as temp , then got an 8 and scavenged what I needed for the 7000, then sold the 8 too as it needed work. You should get gobs of buyers for your labels.

Your timing is perfect, for me. I finally took mine apart enough to de-ox the switches good (a bit of an operation, as you probably know), a couple days ago, and the chemical cooling and then working the switches several times caused the 2 tape monitor labels to fall off. :sigh: My initial reaction was a mild state of panic, lol, but I remembered that you were trying to have some made. Take your time, there's no rush at all, but let me know when you need another guinea pig, lol. :D :smoke:

if you still have good labels you can use double sticky back tape to reattach them, or a tiny bit of silicon rubber glue. then you can remove when new ones arrive.

Well, I finally got some labels made. They look pretty good. Great time for camera to be on the fritz. I will try to get some pics up soon. I had some extras made, and would like to share them with fellow AKers. PM with an address and I will send ya some till they are gone. I put them on with a soapwater solution so you can move them around till they are just right. When they dry they are stuck...

I think it is great that you are having those made are willing to share. Kudo's to you.

I do not need any as my receiver still has all its labels in place, but just wanted to say thanks for doing that.

I got mine yesterday, thanx VERY much, BrandXRC! :thmbsp:  :thmbsp: Like you already said, they're not exact originals, it would be very tricky to duplicate that aluminum background, but they're a darn good substitute. I was thinking about trying to clear-coat the buttons, to really seal them permanently, but I'll want to be pretty careful, & give it some thought before trying that.

Try all ya want Spaceman. Any tips would be appreciated. If you screw some up trying, I will have another set for you.
