Anyone using 7119 tubes?

I had not used my tube setup for quite some time. I had forgotten just how good tubes can sound with the right setup. So, when I re-connected the akidio preamp to a modded Citation II with a 5687 front end, I was reminded of the smooth sounding midrange that I used to like.

Had a cache of 7119 tubes laying around, and decided to install the 7119's in place of the 4 5687 tubes in the amp, and two in the preamp, which was fed from Valvo 6922s.

The sound was significantly more transparent, with a lot of inner detail that wasn't present with the 5687 tubes. The presence region was much more open, akin to a live person singing.

For those of you who use the 5687, was wondering if you have tried the 7119, and what your impressions of it were. For now, they will get a lot of use with this system, and seem like a excellent sub for the 5687.

The two tubes have slightly differing mu's and transconductance, so it's not surprising you heard a difference. But if it sounds good, and the tubes look to be compatible with the circuit, then use them. Just be sure all the music you listen to sounds as good as what you have listened to already. What made one person singing sound good could make complex music like an orchestra sound muddy (too much 2nd harmonic distortion products can do this).

I was under the impression that 7119/56877044 differences were of the same order as the deltas between the 6DJ8 vs 6922 vs 7308.

The interaction with the power tubes could also be at play here. Currently using NOS Sylvania 6550's, which have a different sonic signature as compared to a SED 6550C, for example. At any rate, so far, so good.
