Are these Magnepans?

What wood Ken do?
A friend of mine just bought a house and told me the previous owner had speakers that were about 8 ft tall. The previous owner wasn't sure they would fit in his new place, and was thinking he might have to leave them. Unfortunately, he didn't, but I found pics of the home listing and now curiosity has the best of me - are these Magnepans? And if so, which ones?

(sorry the pics are so small - they're the only ones available)

I don't think so. To tall and skinny and the pattern on the panels looks wrong. Someone will know what they are.

If those are really almost 8' tall, then they are almost sure to be Acoustats of one sort or another -- probably 1+1s or 2+2s or SPECTRAs using a similar panel arrangement. They are also much too close to the front wall to sound their best based on my experience. If the ceilings are the more normal 8', they could still be Acoustats, just not the "+" variety.

The only speakers I know of that were proportioned like this and built by Magnepan were the individual Tympani panels which were sometimes used individually but in "clusters" where the mid/tweeter panels were separated from the woofer panel group.

Actually the Magnapan MG10's were shaped like that, however they would not fit back in the corner like that with the base they had. Those look like Acoustats to me. FWIW

Yeah - I think the 8 ft guess is too much - looking at the door frames (which are about 6'8" standard, 7'0" at max), these look to be in that range.

I was looking at some Infinity IRS speakers, but these are definitely not those.

Acoustat seems like a good guess.

Don't Martin Logans have that same kind of look - can't see the lowest part to see if there is a woofer cab at the bottom tho ...

Thanks for pointing those out -- I didn't know that the MG10s existed. Are they very bass limited and/or intended to be used with a sub(s)? There sure doesn't seem to be room for a lot of bass panel in them.

Look at the second photo - there's a visible row of rectangles down the middle, like an line array of planar or electrostatic tweets. That should pretty much nail the identification (although I don't know it). Edit: Actually, I guess that could be a line array of conventional drivers too - just can't quite tell from that resolution.

MG10 (1992) and MG10.1 (1998)use a Quazi ribbon tweeter and are rated at 80hz. to 22KHz. I would say a subwoofer is needed, however they are highly regarded if somewhat rare.

Yeah,
That definitely rules out Magnapan!

most surely mcintosh XRT ? i zoomed in on the 2nd pic and im fairly certain. dont see the bass modules though.

I don't think they are McIntosh. You can see the woofer behind the tweeter arrangement on the MC's. I am thinking acoustat. Magnepan have to be a way from the wall about three feet to sound good. Also those are taller than the front door so I would say they are about 7' 6" or so.
