Avent Heritage and seperated cones....

Slow on the uptake.
I finally took a look at the Advent Heritage speakers I brought home from the goodwill.

As it turns out, two of the 8" woofers had the cones seperated from the spider. On one, it was seperated completely. Obviously neither woofer would play when hooked up.
I just happened to have an unused pair of 8" Advent woofers for another project and the speakers played just fine with these.

My question is, can the cone be reattached easily?

If the glue merely became undone and the wiring is still intact, just reglue the cone/VC to the spider.

You did say, however, that they won't play. Do you mean there is no sound or cone movement at all? If not, that is an indication that the wires are broken which may or may not be easy to fix.

If the wiring is still intact, there should be some kind of response to applying a signal.

No response at all from either driver. It looks like th wires are damaged. Thanks for the reply.

Of course, if it were me, I would have to see if I could find where they're broken and try to fix them :^)

I still will.

I just happened to have relplacements so that can wait until after the 2 woofers I have to refoam for my Large Advents.

I just picked up some fuses as one was absent and hooked them up. So far they sound great with Santana's "Black Magic Woman". Virtually transparent and I'm surprised by the depth and fullness of the bass.
 
They sound fun. I can't wait to hear the dual 8" woofers. There's no mid involved, is there?

No. 2 way with dual 8" woofers. I put in the HT set as fronts and moved the 3002s to the rear channel. I have a copy of Pink Floyd's DSOTM in SACD with 5.2 DTS. The clocks during "Time" are unreal....

I really like the speakers in this set up while I prefer to keep the stacked Advents and KLH 6s in the 2-channel.
