Normally I would have posted this elsewhere but despite the fact this is a fictional Japanese anime series it is a legitimate cooking show and a very entertaining one. It is the story of Soma Tsukuda an aspiring chef working in his father's neighborhood restaurant. His Father, Joichiro who is a world class chef suddenly temporarily closes his restaurant to take a job that requires him to travel the world. He he sends his son to a elite cooking school, that he is a alumni of, which only has a 10% graduation rate. The reason why I am posting this here is all of dishes you see are legitimate. This Anime series is based on a Japanese shonen manga of the same name where the recipes are supplied by Chef Yuki Morisaki. I have picked up on a number of things from the show, an example is Yuzu Kosho, green, and red, a wonderful chili citrus paste, it is sort of a Japanese Sriracha sauce, and Holy Basil. I actually prepared one of the dishes which on the series is called Yukihira-style Chaliapin Steak Don. It was amazing what it did with a round steak, and very simple to make. The first season is available on Crunchy Roll, which is available on Apple TV, Roku, not sure about Amazon Fire TV, or the Google Chromecast, and YouTube. The second season will air on Japanese TV this next spring I am really looking forward to it.

Be warned this show has a certain amount Japanese shonen cultural strangeness. It has a anime comedic element called Gainaxing, (look it up :naughty:) and when the food judges like the food the mentally blow off their cloths in a exaggerated version of Snuffles reaction to getting a dog treat in the Quick Draw McGraw cartoon.

That's good stuff. Strange, but good. So much better than the plethora of Holiday Baking Wars and Cupcake Wars we have here. If I have to watch another Candy battle, I'll throw myself in the river.

The Holy Basil that is mentioned is for real. I purchased some in capsule and as a herbal tea. It really works. It is hard to define it's affects but is seems to reduce stress, you feel more "there". The tea is not bad tasting sort of like mint alfalfa.

It looks like there is a least season one of that animated show on youtube.

I found a youtube video of that steak recipe where the cook makes it in front of a dog (I think the dog is supposed to be narrating the video) so now I'm really curious about this "Cooking with Dog" channel LOL.

Cooking with Dog is a great YouTube cooking channel. The unnamed Lady chef cooks with the Poodle named Francis. The syntax of "Cooking with Dog" is a little strange.

There is presently only one season of Food War! season two will start airing something early next year.

Hey transmaster. I took the time to watch the video first. Pretty sensual to say the least. Might have to watch the next one. lol But really, Got my son's interest peaked. Thanks.

Yeah, it's a bit, well, it's a bit of all the stuff I dig anime for. Not sure yet, so I'll watch the whole season and then double check next season to see if I really like it.

I have been a fan of Anime for since the early 1990's. I subscribe to Crunchy Roll for this reason. I am so used to sub-titles I hardly even notice them anymore.

What you are watching is characteristic of shonen anime. Shonen translates out to something like "young boys" is a demographic in Japan which covers +/- 14 year old boys. When you understand this you will better understand what is going on. nudity, odd by US standard camera angles, and gainaxing which in Food Wars! is very mild compared to other anime series.
