Forte 1 restoration

Just picked up a pair of Forte's in natural oak with the round, 4 ohm labeled terminals. I'm planning to do a fairly extensive restoration on the cabinets, partly because they were in a smokey environment and they do smell. So I plan to strip down the oak veneer and refinish. I will give the the grills a good wash and if that doesn't do the trick I'll get new fabric.

But more importantly, I plan to upgrade the electronics. I've read a lot about Bob Crite's site and it is an amazing resource. However, I'm in Canada and shipping from US is pricey, so I will try to source locally as much as possible and focus on the items I can't get anywhere else. All that said, here's my questions:

1. Recap: I'm looking at sourcing the caps from Solen. These:
https://solen.ca/products/capacitors/fast-capacitors-400v-pb-series-metallized-polypropylene/pb100/
https://solen.ca/products/capacitors/fast-capacitors-400v-pb-series-metallized-polypropylene/pb150/
https://solen.ca/products/capacitors/non-polarized-electrolytic-capacitors/b05a100k476/

Should I be replacing the resistors and inductors as well??

2. Driver upgrades. I've read good things about the titanium diaphragm for the tweeters from Bob C. He also has replacement diaphragms for the mids too, but not sure if that is worthwhile??

3. What else should I be looking at during the restoration? Internal wires from crossovers? stuffing? others?

Thanks!

PM sent.

see this page post #31 for photos of internal brace work on a Quartet which is almost identical to a Forte just a little shorter.

First of all, congratulations on your acquiring a pair of Forte. I did the whole Crites upgrade with mine, i.e. diaphragms for tweeter & midrange and new crossovers, and am very happy with the results. Improve them as time and your budget allow. Moray James is full of good ideas and is a valued contributor regarding Klipsch speakers.

Thanks everyone for the great advice, especially moray james for the PMs.

I think I'm going to order the new caps and tweets from Bob Crites and the klipsch titanium mids. I'll add some extra bracing when I refinish the cabs.

I'm planning a family trip to US in July so I think I'll try to coordinate everything then to save on shipping to Canada. I'll just mule it back in the car ;)
