I'm about to get a G-9000 and previously owned a G-8700. If it's anything like the G-8700, I suspect that the G-9700 is probably not as well built as the G-9000....but before arriving at any conclusions, I'd like to hear from the experts what the differences are between the two. Thank you!

Well, the G-9000 is an elegant sufficiency, while the G-9700 is wretched excess. I mean, digital and a dial face? 
A few of Sansui's most coveted tuners have a digital readout + a dial face.
Things were going downhill for Sansui, as they were for everyone, about the time the 8700/9700 were released. Build quality is noticeably diminished, but the end result (what you hear) still is respectable.
In other words, I wouldn't turn my nose up at these units, but the glory days were past.

Man, I'd be hard pressed to diss either of these units, both blow just about anything off the street nowadays.......... If i had my pick though it would be the G9000/901
