I've read some of David Brenner's old comedy books (being from Philly and all), George Carlin's and Woody Allen's books.

Brenner's were funny. He said when he was young he told his parents that someday he was going to send them on a trip around the World. His father replied, "Right now you can't even send us around the block!". He said his father was the funniest person he ever knew. (Brenner ended up sending them around the World twice.)

He also told the story when he started the Mike Douglas show once in the back studio alley with a jet pack and roller skates on. They were going to light it for the show intro. What he forgot when they lit it was to bend over. He was standing straight up and he went 40 ft into the air and landed on the pavement. Douglas ran up to him and asked Brenner if he was alright. David replied, "Am I in Camden?".

George Carlins books can be quite funny if you like that kind of Comedy. I've got most of em'

This is a nice one:

Academy Zappa - Proceedings of the First International Conferene of Esemplastic Zappology.

I like pariticularly the essay written by Francesco Gentile titeled:

"Xenoarrangements, or, Insane Grafts Day-Dreamed by a Zappa Hard-Core Fanatic Not Inclined to Come Out of his Monomaniacal World."

Funny stuff, but do not ask me details...in a way Theodor Adorno meets Monty Python...something like that...

;-)

'Paperback Writer' by shipper. Beatles 'alternate history'. hard to find but excellent.

most Dave Barry books. 'Big Trouble' is infinitely funnier than the movie based on it.

I still LOL at the story in one of DBs books about them getting Sonny Bono to rub peanut butter on his ass, supposedly a 'miracle cure' for back pain. Hilarious.
