Help with speaker comparison

I’m considering two different model speakers that are being sold locally. Pioneer HPM-40 and Klipsch KG4. I know what HPM-40 sound like and have owned several Klipsch models but not KG4. If anyone here has owned both models can you please describe the bass of the HPM-40 compared to KG4? I might buy both models because my intentions with the HPM-40 is to either econowave mod them or just replace the tweeter with a soft dome and get rid of the supertweeter. I’ve always wanted a pair of KG4 and I have a spare set of Crites tweeter diaphragms that I could install in them. Any input is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

It seems like you have a good plan, buy both and see for yourself. My guess is that the KG4's will be more to your liking? You can do as you want with either pair once you evaluate the situation, of course the initial cost may prevent the purchase of both possibly? Good luck.

I bought the pair of HPM-40 from the second owner. They are in very good condition. Only missing one badge on one of the grills and the bottom piece of vinyl laminate on the front of one of the cabinets. The KG4 I will have to coordinate with the seller to check those out and maybe buy them if the price is right.

The KG4 is a better speaker overall. I had the KG4 and HPM60. No contest in my mind.

I’m not asking which is the better sounding speaker. I would guess the Klipsch has better fidelity. I just want to know how the bass response of the two compare. I noticed the HPM-40 extend a little lower than the KG4 but the Klipsch of course are more efficient.
