How unobtanium is the 4400 scope?

Im starting to diagnose my second 4400, and there is a big dark spot on the CRT. Is this scope done for? or will a faulty scope section cause a black spot in the display?

I know the scope for the 10b, and 150 pops up on "that" site occasionally, but I have never seen a 4400 one. Anybody have a source for replacement? Im starting to think this restore will be a bummer.

doing some research i came across a post on another forum that says the 150 scope is the same as the 4400. the scope for the 4400 is a 50TB1 Hitachi.

I don't think it's done for, just the phosphorus has been burnt. If you do get a new scope, see if there is an adjustment for the brightness. Too bright and too static a display will cause the burn.

I have seen replacements pop up on eBay from time to time so I don't think I would give up hope. Also you can order new FETs for the scope board - they tend to die out. 2SK30 I believe. Jstang and HAL9000 have a few great threads of information if you are looking to do some preventative maintenance.

Thats FANTASTIC to hear!!! Ill just keep my eyes peeled for that part number. I know its not a goner yet, but it shows less hope than the other scope on the 4400 I did. I have all the transistors and parts ready to rebuild this one, I stocked up for a few 4400s :D. All I need is time and the two big power filter caps.

I know she's MORE than worth the restore, I was just a little depressed when I turned the brightness up on the scope and saw a dead spot. I turned the brightness down again as im using my 4400 as a tuner for now.

Join the Yahoo Marantz and search up there... There is a member that was selling a Russian scope that fit with some modifications to the socket wiring. Email him....he is great guy and provides very good replacement instructions too....

I bought two of them and I have a spare stock tube.

The 150 tube is not the same. The 2110, 2130, 2500 and 2600 are the same.
