Would there be anything to gain by switching from my Kenwood 700M/700C pre/power amp setup and going to an Accuphase C-200/P-300 setup? I know both are very well regarded, but in a direct comparison would there be a clear winner? Just tossing around ideas...

In stock form, the Accuphase has all the advantages, specifically the preamp. After restoration, I'd say it's pretty even competition.
 
Precisely what I was looking for, thanks Glenn :) One of the reasons I haven't been buying everything I see, so I can have you restore one of these beauties :thmbsp:
 
Yeah, the Supreme series is sure pretty stuff.

Glenn, what should be done with a 600 to bring it up to snuff? Mine sounds great after I had it worked on by an old tech who has an affinity for vintage gear. Believe some of the FETs were replaced. Are there any upgrades I should eventually undertake to actually improve the sound? Just give me the condensed version, as I'm tech-challenged and engineering-impaired. Thanks.
 
What the 600 needs is all the old electrolytics replaced. After doing this recently, I have to say that it isn't a fun job.
