Isolation base for Rega P3-24

I was thinking of making an isolation base for my Rega turntable but I was wondering if I could use a 1 or 2 inch thick piece of maple or oak wood? If I made it with similar dimensions as the turntable and put vibrapods on the bottom would this work well for my turntable?

I have started a plinth build. I’m using composite deck wood from Lowes. The material is very dense with no resonance that is audible when plunked. I ripped 18 pieces 1 x 1.5 x 18. After trial bonding with different glues I found ‘No Nails’ to have the deaf grip I desired. The 18 pieces will be assembled butcher block style. The top will be covered with black Formica and the side’s natural oak.

The finished product should be heavy, strong, dense and most importantly no audible ring (plunking your knuckles on this material is like raping the side of a tightly bonded bag of sand). The choice of feet will be an important key to success with this project.

Just a little more food for thought Jdawg

I'm going to try my Rega on an IKEA Lack table tomorrow. I've read on a few forums that this works pretty well. Thought I would give it a try since I have a Lack table. I have a Sanus rack that I had it own previously but since I'm now using my Jolida 302 as my amp there isn't a lot of clearance for the amp on the Sanus. So the set up I've been using lately is an IKEA Expedit.

There's so many different options. I already have the oak wood cut so maybe I'll try inner tube idea if I can find one. The Ikea Lack table looks like a good idea too but I don't have the space for that in my room.
