I have just purchased ( $1000- gulp! ) Kyocera's top of the line B-910 amp. C-910 Pre-amp, T-910 Tuner, and DA-910 CD player from a fellow who has had them since new. It was posted on Craig's List here in Oregon and I drove 3 hours plus to purchase them. Came complete with all owners manuals, service manuals on amp and pre-amp, original boxes, and even sales litature for all units, including two full line Kyocera catalogs! All are in mint condition, which is why I coughed up all the bucks for these guys. For all the Kyocera fans out there, I'll plan on getting some pics posted soon. I have dreamed of getting my hands on these guy's for years!

Congrats on a very nice Kyocera score. The 910 series is pretty much the holy grail of K ware. Git the pics up here so we can drool...

You did well! :thmbsp: I have a 910 Tuna which I purchased back in the day. But I have not used it in a number of years. I knew a couple of guys who owned thier power amps too, and I remember liking them alot. I also own their TOTL cassette deck, which is one of the very best sounding cassette decks I have ever heard.

Its too bad though that he didn't have the Kyocera turntable too. That would have been a truly unbelievable score.

$1000 for All that Gear in Mint condition... Thats Called a SCORE!!

That gear is TOTL and you will take it to your grave.......

Look forward to seeing the pics....... Nudies of the AMP please

Cheers!
Mark

P.S .. What Speakers are you driving with this Gear?

It was a lot of money but well worth it!
Kyocera made some excellent gear and their TOTL should really be great.

Thanks to all for your thoughts on my purchase. I promise I'll get some photos posted soon, including some nudes. Sansui9090 asked what speakers I’ll be driving- B&W P5’s, which should greatly benefit from this amps output, especially the low-end response. My biggest concern was that the gear has been boxed up since 1998. However, I requested he have all the units’ set-up and tested before I purchased. There was a bit of noise in the left channel when we first powered the system up, (loud pop followed by some noise typical of dirty controls), and the amp kicked back to protection mode, then re-set and was fine there after. We powered the amp on and off four or five times after, including letting it sit for about a half hour to let those big power caps drain off. There were no additional problems encountered after that. The amp went into protection, then to normal operation after the 5 second delay. I don’t think the noise was caused by dirty pots in the pre-amp, as they appeared fine after playing with them. So I’m eager to get it hooked back-up and see if I notice any problems. Otherwise, all units functioned perfect, with no scratches, nicks, or marks of any kind. The guy really took extremely good care of them.

What you got, from Orion's listed MSRP
B-910 $2000 (150 wpc)
C-910 $1200
T-910 $590
DA-910 $1600

That's a total of $5,390! Plus you got the boxes and literature!
Wow!

Kudos Amphead! That's one heck of a nice system, especially condsidering the condition and the fact that you have all original paperwork!

I look forward to the pics!

Nice set up. Hope all is well with the equipment, if so great purchase.

If you can scan the spec sheets, I'd like to see those too. This is gonna be nice hearing about these TOTL units.

Giggity giggity!

Thanks again to all for your comments. I re-checked the amp and all is indeed well. Were in the process of moving right now, so pics will be a few days out. I dont have a scanner, but I 'll try some photo close-up's of the spec sheets in addition to the units.

Hey Bully, what is the Orion used blue book on this score?

OK. Used retail according to my 1997 Orion is $944, but realize those prices may be low compared to what they may bring on eBay.

Thanks to Bully for the Orion pricing. I know retail prices on the Kyocera cite at Geocities ( http://www.geocities.com/poseidon8118 ) are accurate and the units retail for a total of $5400, which matches the Orion retail Bully posted earlier on this thread.

I've been watching these units on audio web sites and of course Ebay ( aka Epay) for the last couple of years. Granted, there have not been many of the 910 series, but the R series receivers, DA cd players, and PL turntables have averaged somewhere between 25 to 35 percent of their original retails, depending on condition. I know the last B-910 amp on Ebay went for over $500 plus shipping. It did have the original box and manual, but a few small dings were shown on the photo. I saw the B-910 and C-910 for sale at Audiogon a number of months ago, and as I recall he wanted $480 for the amp and $380 for the Pre-amp. I saved his photos, (I save every Kyocera photo I can find) and the units were pretty dinged up, at least by my standards. Big 3 inch scratch in the front of the amp and many small dings on both units. So using my own observations, I would say the units I purchased for a total of $1000 were perhaps $300 to $500 below what they would net if sold separately, not counting shipping costs.

For the record, I also have the R-661 & R-461 receivers, DA-610cx CD player, and the RC-101 remote control unit for the receivers. May be selling these in the near future as my spouse keeps reminding me were running out of space. It may come down to her or the Kyocera gear- hmmm (just kidding)
