The source/function lamps in the JVC JR-S600 Mk1 receiver are specified as 6V, 35mA, they are wire ended, pcb mounted. However, I have not yet been able to access the PCB assembly in order to measure the lamps' diameter. I have been in contact with Dave Wojnarowski and he does not know either. Has anyone replaced the source/function lamps in the JVC JR-S600 Mk1 and can advise the diameter of these lamps please?

After a long gap on this subject, I now have the bulbs in question. Has anyone actually replaced any of these input selection lamps/bulbs that are mounted on a long narrow PCB, itself being mounted on the front panel? I've looked long and hard at ways to access them and as yet have not figured out a way without major breakdown of assemblies including the tuning cord. Anyone?

i didnt need to do that, but it was a long time ago, maybe got to them from the front,- remove the front panal ?

The front panel is 'connected' to the major chassis via the tuning cord plus screws 'everywhere'. So unless the tuning cord is removed (major pain), then it's not possible to remove the front panel, or maybe (it's hard to tell) the panel itself sectionalises and allows the bottom half to come away? That's why I'm asking on here, if someone has already done it and can give me some good clues...

Seeing no other way out, I disconnected the front panel. Ha, that's easier said than done as the tuning cord is deployed on both the front panel and the main chassis. Anyway, I allowed the tuning cord to hang loose in the belief that I could sort it out afterwards. That 'kinda' gave me access to the long PCB fixed to the lower part of the front panel that housed the input selection lamps. A screw at one end of the PCB was very difficult to access, then the board pushed to the side to free itself from some plastic locating pins. The faulty lamps' soldered connection leads were then, just about (!) accessible if the set was turned upside down. And so on. All in all a very difficult and testing procedure not helped by the fact that I missed one faulty bulb and had to go back to it after nearly but quite replacing the whole front panel etc. Anyway, there you go, the front panel has to be removed to change input selection lamps. Not an easy to do by any means, but 'do-able'.

Hi, I am beginning to look at replacing ALL the lamps on my JVC JR-S600. Did you replace ALL the bulbs, or just the selector button lamps as you describe above. What type of bulbs and color did you use, and what supplier? I see ebay seller projectblk86 selling LED bulbs. I am gathering info at this point. Any input and links to sources and instruction is appreciated, ....................Thanks, David

I contacted dgwojo and he replied with bulb choices for the jr-s600. I am still curious about the exact bulbs type and color used and if you replaced ALL the bulbs including the meter bulbs and the dial pointer bulb. Thanks, David
