Picked one of these units up today for $7.
Can't find anything out there about but early impressions are favorable.
Matched it up with my KA-1100SD.

I know it was out around 96 and I have found the owners manual.
Anyone have any experience with it?

It was a midline model in that lineup but a decent machine. For $7 how can you go wrong?

You need to track down a DP-990SG (or DP-1100 or DP-3300) to go with that amplifier of yours.

Yeah the price seemed right though my best $7 CD player pick-up was my Denon 1500.....

Thanks for the info on those other models, I will keep my eye open for them! Despite all of my various Kenwood gear I just never associated them with a good CD player, this player has changed my mind. It good be just how it matches up with the receiver and the speakers but it sounds great.

Thanks again for your help and advice.

I got a Marantz DV7000 for free! I have been helping a local thrift store sort through their equipment and test it. In return, when I asked how much they wanted - the owner said keep it!
