Chance to get a near mint pair for a nice price . Problem ? Room they need to go in is 13x9 and will need to be in that room form at least a year or so as I finish the basement . Would you do it ? There’s no plans for anything in the way a good 7 feet back from the short wall seating position . Anyone else think I’m nuts thinking about this purchase ?

If you can afford them, go for it
They are not getting cheaper
But going up daily
Go price them
It will make you finish the basement sooner
They don’t have to come out from the wall to sound nice

Room Size ? And are those ones or twos?
Room is 12 X 13

I believe they are two's (the info is in my computer at the warehouse). 77,8, or9.

The wall to the left is open to the entry, family room. The opening behind me in the photo is into the kitchen/ family room. The sound effects are spectacular.

Never had the right situation to own the earlier series or any of the three series For that matter but have heard the twos . Impressive. I’m excited to finally doing so with the iv if it all pans out .

FYI -

We had Khorns in our old house. I had the Cornwalls prior to that, and put them in a spare bedroom fore safekeeping. We sold the place and bought a new home, but obviously that room is too small for Khorns. I put the CWs in, and told Wifey we'd go shopping for new speakers.

We stopped in Magnolia one day to listen to new speakers - Klipsch, Martin Logan, B & W, etc. After 45 minutes or so, she asked id she could at least put some sort of covering on the tops of the CWs. If so, she'd rather keep them. Done deal.

Assuming the right price is less (hopefully considerably) than $6k, go for it. End game speakers for me. And yes, only speakers I have ever owned that sound great slap up against the back wall. After you get them I suggest you listen to other speakers (like @usedto ) it will solidify your purchase as I did the same. They crush anything under $10k IMO.

4 1/2 drive one way . $3950 just over a year old ,boxes manuals and they are I would say 9/10 A stock I’ll post pictures later tonight or tomorrow these have low hrs not the best set up for a demo but they sounded like they should considering the location they were in . Excited !

Congrats!

Now you can do what I did and buy a couple of vintage McIntosh tube amps and you'll be all set:rflmao:

FYI, Cornwall II’s we’re introduced in 1986. There was an version II of the original Cornwall that had the horns mounted vertically instead of horizontally. The labels on the vertical mounted drivers read Cornwall II but they are not comparable to the 1986 series.

Sounds like a deal. I look forward to hearing how things go/your impressions.
