Marantz 2330 balance connection help

Hello fellow vintage Marantz friends. I’m new to AK but have followed for a few years now.
I recently purchased a 2330 online not from the bay. The receiver was listed as coming from a working environment. With one channel slightly distorted. I brought it to my tech the same day I received it. He is a very reputable guy with decades of Marantz experience. Long story short, he is having a hard time finding a replacement for the balance slide bar. It’s my understanding the connection is cracked and not useable. Does anyone know of a site to find a replacement? Or maybe another model or brand that would work with the 2330?
I appreciate the help in getting this beauty back to me in one peice!

Looks like the usual places do not have any Marantz balance controls. Anyone out there know where I could get a balance control? Or where I should look? I’ve been told they came in two sizes. I’m assuming since my Marantz is a 2330 that I would need the larger size. Screw holes measured center to center are 3.5”.

Thanks Velox. How many other 2330 parts do you have? I was starting to think that part was unobtainable. Everyone has their price tho!

Once you have the part, check to see if the shaft could of been removed and inserted in the more common one. Seeing it, the shaft was extended to accommodate this model it may well fit into the other and work. I have in the past repaired the slider by swapping parts over a total replacement.

Hi MNmarantz, I have just a few things left from the 2330, like the faceplate, meters and power amp boards. I got some 2330 parts from Bob Speece here on AudioKarma previously but he has moved apparently and has not been on this forum for some time now.

Well thanks again Velox. Very much appreciated! I’m hoping this is the last peice to getting my 2330 up and running.

Thanks Oerets,
That was going to be my solution. I purchased two slide controls last night on eBay. Both from later model receivers. I was hoping my tech would have been able to braze the tab/shaft onto my existing slide control but Velox saved me with the original 2330 slide control he had. Very grateful for the experience and helpfulness of all the members here. I don’t know if I would have been able to save this rare peice without all the help and knowledge.

The slider can be removed from the housing and swapped.
Done this on the Quad and 22XX units for a snapped slider.
Figured the 2330 should also be able to.

Well I will make sure my tech saves the broken slider control for me. Would have thought he’d be able to do that. At least I’ll have a working back up in the end.

Your gonna love the 2330. I've had mine for a few years now and love it. Don't think I'll ever part with it. Told both my grown kids that when I kick it, they can sell all the other 22xx units but one must keep the 2330 and the other must keep the model 18.

Lucky kids! I’m 44, but you can still adopt me!!!
I have two kids myself. This hobby has been fun for us. We choose music over tv 10 to 1.
I dropped off the slide control today and the tech brought me into his repair room. Told me he has one amp board to repair and he will have it back to me in a week. I have to say it looks better than I ever thought it would!

I’ll post pics with the hood off when I locate my micro Phillips screwdriver. Thanks again Velox for the slide control, it works perfectly.
My only complaint is that my tech did not get the FM indicator or the mpx or Dolby lights to work. I understand it’s quite a task to get at them. Anyone out there attempt this on their own?

If the plastic is in good shape the board holding the lamps is easily removed. The replacing the lamps is straight forward and reality easy.

The plastic if melted, a all to common result due to time and heat will make the task a very difficult one to undertake. Could end up a disaster and requiring hours of labor and donor parts.

I may just live with it for now then. I’m just glad my tech was able to save it from being a parts receiver. It was pretty beat up when I purchased it.
