Marantz Eico Heathkit on CL

if that's within your price range, it's heck of a start for a tube setup. it gets me excited just seeing those pictures.:banana::banana:

I've been drooling over that ad for awhile now. In fact, I just clicked over hear after looking at more pictures of it. It's not unfairly priced, IMHO, it's just that they'll have to find somebody who wants all of that to get that price. If you were looking to get into tube audio, you would be jumping right into heaven with that setup, me thinks. It looks like it has been used recently, and probably constantly, since new. Which is good. I seriously almost jumped on that then remembered that I really have no room for it. It even matches my furniture. You should go get it and allow me to come visit. And give me that turntable as I go :)

Looks like it needs a good cleaning for sure. I know I can at least do that! I sent them my info about a week ago but they never responded. Maybe I'll try again. I could just buy the house and see if they'll toss that in :thmbsp: That cat in the pics looks like trouble. Hope he had his own separate scratching post.

Should be in dollars and sense but I will say OMG that is a serious nice system, I mean if I had that kind of cash I would be all over it. That is just very very nice. But did they use brasso to clean the faces on the marantz? Those speakers are amazing, I want to see the back off one. Reminds me of the eico system I found like a year ago, that was a find of the century but it had the worlds worst speakers with it.

my cat has the same determined look to him, big trouble....

All you have to do is put a more desirable scratching post close by, and they'll gravitate towards that instead. At least that is what mine do. And it is what I would make sure they do if I stuffed all this gear here in a van and dragged it home.

Never did work for me. I eventually had both of my cats declawed by my dad (totally harmless if done right) - one because she liked to claw the furniture, the other because she's a bit nutty and dangerous with claws. I'd have had to put her down if I didn't declaw her.

BTW, I really want a pair of those speakers. Altecs in awesome mid-century cabinets.

that wuold be an awesome system to have.... dood luck if decide to pursue wether whole or in pieces...

with the number of speakers i have i would need lots of scratching posts. for the most part all of my grills sit in closet and i deal withpout on the speakers. but i will also use missing grills to my advantage when haggling price..

I've thought about this system a lot today but I simply don't have the room. I'm actually interested in the speakers and turntable more than anything, but those speakers are huge and my downtown apartment isn't. The preamp would be nice but I already have two very nice vintage tube preamps and a Marantz 7 just isn't, for me, worth what they go for, plus what I'd pay to have it restored as I can't do it myself and I don't buy things just to collect them. If this post sounds like it's me trying to rationalize not pursuing this...it is!

What you do is buy the whole setup, sell the pieces you don't want and then you get the speakers and turntable for free....so you in turn must make room for free speakers :D
