I had a Stanton 681EEES cartridge with the Stereohedron stylus. Loved the sound, didn't sound bright at all, just warm and natural with good details & depth. I had it mounted on a Sansui SR-525 manual turntable, sold both. Should have kept that cartridge.

Regards.

Oh, Yes...Here's the Ticket... Just took the Brush off the D6800EEE Sylus and put it on the D74S and into the 681 Cartridge.....Very Musical...Very Nice going thru the Tube Phono Amp and the ST70...

Thanks Ilikevinyl...But I hope that I will have no need to replace this D74S anytime soon..It Really Sounds Nice in the 681...It has all the Full Bodied Satisfying Sound of the 681EEE but with a Real Head Turning Splash of Impact and Attack....That would be More Punch, Bottom to Top..

I like my LP Gear shibata on my 681EEE. I'd love to see how that one sounds also. really detailed and clear. Very uncolored sound.

I found that Running this on the 681EEE with the Brush seemed to make it Play off Center...So, I put it back on the L747 without the Brush and it Really does sound Better this way...Big Sound Stage...Also, the 1.2v Output vs the 681's .7v might make a Bit of Difference...

I'm using a 747 right now and I love it; however, the needle seems to be off-center as well.

What's the current consensus on the best replacement needle for this wonderful cart? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I see this one for $99: http://www.lpgear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LG&Product_Code=STNSL747S

and this one from Jico with the brush: http://stylus.export-japan.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=81&products_id=1361

and a few here: http://www.needledoctor.com/Online-Store/Stanton-Stylus

...any thoughts now that all of you have had more time with your various combos?

BTW, I'm running this on a Yamaha YP-D8.

They don't have an SAS for that stylus, just shibata/stereohedron. I have an L747s needing a stylus and a YP-D8 as well. I'll be curious to hear you opinion, especially if you have a V15 -III or V to compare it to. My instinct is to still get the Jico, though. So the 6800EEE stylus is fine for the 747?

Thanks - was confused by the "SAS" comment.

Yeah I think I'm gonna order the Jico and see what happens. I'm not sure I need a new one, but it wouldn't hurt to freshen up there. I'm installing fresh leads anyway so I'll be under the hood, as they say.

Yes it should work as i tried a D73S in my 681EEE body and worked and sounded nice.............

According to turntableneedles the 73s and 74S are from the same 826 series..........

I ordered the D6800EEE-S at $105 from Jico. Will report back when I install it. Thanks all, as usual.
