I had a Nak 480 cassette player a long time ago. It was the best piece of gear I owned at the time. Had no idea they made something like what you have.
That is very cool!
And welcome!!!

Here is my system, I haven't seen too many example of other System One owners, maybe they are getting too old.View attachment 1041166

Nice! Welcome to AK! Calling @stoutblock

Ha great minds think alike!

I have my two system 1s out of rotation right now but I may have to bring them out of storage. They are about the coolest looking integrated system ever! Quality is pretty darn good too but man were they expensive back in the day!

Do you use the bridging adapter for the 620 amps?

Those things are so fricking cool... Looks like they ought to be built into the wall of a space station. I'm going to have to look into the specs on these. Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing Flashbak and stoutblock.

What more could you ask for than those systems? Looks, lights, knobs, dials, buttons, meters - and a coordinated rack to hold it all. I'm . . . impressed!

GeeDeeEmm

Yes they are impressive looking. They tried to get about $4K for the complete system back in 1977. That was a lot of coin back then! About the price of a used BMW.

Nothing stellar in performance. Certainly totally respectable for 1977 but for the money you could probably do better? The tuner is pretty darn good. Lots of buttons and knobs to keep clean on the tuner and preamp! The 600 deck (I have several of the 600II examples) is the old Nakamichi transport. Not bad specs for a two head machine but the transport is certainly not the most stable or reliable of the brand. One of mine is quite healthy and sounds very good. Wish they could have squeezed a 1000 deck in this rack!

The amplifiers are basic, but hit hard and have lots of power (especially bridged in pairs). They were also legendary for going DC and taking out speakers! Later units had a DC protection circuit and most older ones were updated by the dealers. I own three of the amps. Two of them are totally rebuilt and one is original. They all have the protection circuit but for the few hundred hours I ran them I never had any problems.

Absolutely awesome. Does it sound as good as it looks?
I've been drooling over those amps and preamps on ebay forever...
Thanks for the comment.. Yes they sound awesome!! I just have them running through a couple of Infinity EntraTwo speakers at the moment. It's good enough for my ears at this point. That wasn't always the case though probably why I have Tinnitus now...

Cool. Always thought it looked like a control panel on some high tech stuff back in the day.
Right... they definitly have that NASA control rack look. Still gives me goose bumps..(I have seen more impressive rack systems- that I don't own though)

Right!! Welcome brother!! duplicate systems awesome!! Yes you should bring them back out to juice them up, keeps those capacitors moist.. These was a time that I was thinking of tossing out my cassettes but didn't want to obsolete the Nak system haha. Odd though I haven't tried to run an ipod into them. Seems like sacrilege..
Yes I do have the BA-100

Right I have gone though a few sets of speakers, I mostly listen to Hard Rock and Metal..still do however I also like most kinds of music and have quite a collection. The look does have a lot to do with the appeal of this system. Nakamichi was the one to beat when it came to their cassette decks they were pioneers for sure. I agree with the 1000, I used to have one but against better judgement I sold it off... I am left with a useless NR-100.
