Optimus t110 or Optimus t120 ?

Nearly done!

Have just about finished the restoration.

Both cabinets refinished and painted/stained. All speakers refitted and finshing off the covers now with new cloth.

First audio test - and WOW! they sound very very good - lovely clean sound, crisp highs and good but not booming bass.

Love the result. Pics to come

Very nice. My only audio curb find was a pair of T120s, and I was quite surprised by the overall quality. After I get around to repairing the veneer, I'm giving them to my parents for their basement system.

Too funny, I just added a pair of T-120's today. Made a trip to the local auction house where they were having a sort of flea market and came across the 120's. They weren't marked so I asked Pat (owner/operator) how much and he said "take em". They'll need surrounds done, grills will have to be updated. Haven't run them yet so not sure they work. Cabinets should clean up nicely. Once I have these and the 110's going I'll have to do a head to head. I'll of course post here when that time comes.
Since last posting here I found a correct replacement woofer for both my T-110 and T-120 speakers. They are almost complete, only the mid in the T-120 is incorrect, but finding a correct replacement has proven quite challenging. Both sets are in working order, but the mid doesn't sound correct in the one T-120. I'm currently running a LX5 woofer as the mid, so it's missing some "sparkle" in the mids.

I haven't played them side by side, but I may have to do that just to see for myself which is the better speaker. Both are very attractive and well constructed.

Still have to take the 110's home. Spent a lot of time listening to the T-120 this weekend and they're pretty damn good. Not my best speaker, but for the money very difficult to beat. I did find that I didn't like the midrange, especially when the volume got cranked up. One of the speakers has the LX5 woofer (read my other posts for explanation), so swapped another in place of the original mid, reset contour controls to flat and huge improvement. It did take me a little time to acclimatize, but once my ears did the sound was more controlled, less bright. Handled higher volumes better as well. I was truly impressed with bass response. Really good for a 10" driver.

I have been hoping someone would have the answer to the 110 recap question. Does anyone know the capacitors needed to update these crossovers? I have a pair in great condition I would like to replace crossovers on. I already reconed the surrounds on the passive woofers, seems very common. I am currently running them with a NAD3020 that was recapped. Very good sound so far, highs and bass quite smooth. Seems the mid range falls off a little when turned way up. Maybe just the lack of wpc channel of the NAD.

I recapped a pair of T-110s over the winter. Looking at my Parts Express order, I bought:

(2) 6.8uF 100V

(2) 4.7uF 100V

Hi tillmbil welcome to AK. Parts Express is good. Used them to get my caps for recapping my Missions 737Rs. Bought Dayton Films , good caps. Check them out, 5% parts are good enough for the film caps. And film caps you wouldn't have to replace again.

I got a free pair of M-100s last year. Very attractive cabinets, but the original owner replaced the stock tweeters with those "super tweeters". Way too bright and metallic! I may try to change them with something softer and mellower.

I just picked up a pair of T 110's on the cheap. Some quick research from this thread insured me I wasn't wasting my time. Thanks everyone. I was pleasantly surprised that all the drivers and surrounds are in great shape. Going to look into recap.
