Public Apology

Thanks for the kind words everybody!

I really appreciate the forgiveness I have received.
AK members/mods/admins have been so generous to me in the past with advice, gear, and stuff; but this by far takes the cake of generousity for me. :)

I've apoligized to two members publically in the 4 years I've been here! You get caught up in the moment, you read something as a slight.

I admire you Alex for your inner strength to come forth and apologize. I found it hard to do and I am 30 Yrs your senior. You are going to do alright in life, man

I must let you know that meant a LOT to me.

BTW everyone, I am officially a tube head. Check out the tube section for more.

barry or sue or barrynsue acting in concert hit it on the head. in that forum, one participant gave me a lukewarm "oh, I thought he was just kidding." But when the rest of the room let the guy continue on the rant, I figured it wasn't worth the nuisance. Have always made friends easily, but never was much for popularity contests. But you'll notice on this forum, everybody who cares to comment is commending Alex for being cool. And what's a forum like this without passion for the subject matter? ( 0 ;

Indeed, this place has so many wonderful and passionate people. At many other forums, it is just yaking about how much better their stuff is than yours, here, the members genuinely care about audio equipment, regardless of brand.
Nobody bashes anyone, maybe some polite joking, but ya gotta keep things on the light side!

It is Barry. I will not name the other forum as there are good folks there also but this forum as has always been nothing but Positive and the moderators handle anything that gets out of hand.

Looks like all have moved on and besides a little kiddiing around, the mood and Karma are back on track!

Good job and a :thmbsp: to all.

Barry

Good job Alex!

We all get our backs up occasionally...no big deal. I think we all appreciate your youthful enthusiam- it is good to have younger people enjoying the hobby, it keeps it going and injects a youthful voice into what easily becomes an "old guys" club.

I Couldn't Agree More!

From what I've seen, the moderators here have an easy job and it's this kind of self awareness and humility that makes it easy.

It doesn't matter what the interest, the same cast of characters usually appear on forums. This forum is blessedly devoid of know-it-alls and guys with chips on their shoulder who want to argue just for the fun of arguing. Even belt drive TT guys and direct drive TT guys are civil to one another!

I've gotten wonderful technical help here. I've also enjoyed reading about vintage gear of which I was unfamiliar.

This is a great site and I tip my hat to Alex and everyone else who makes it so.

Doug

Good on you, Alex! You have discovered that singular little thing that makes AK a great place to be - civility. And I will say that I generally enjoy your posts, and appreciate what you have to say.

And Sandy: :twak: (Just, you know, for preventative maintenance, in case I'm not around when you need me :D)

(Why isn't there a smiley for "Kick Me"? :scratch2: )

:gigglemad Dammit, I always miss the arguments :puke2: , but never the apologies! :smsex:

I guess its because there's always a leading title on the apology threads, but no indicative titles for the argument threads. When a good ole' fashioned beatdown erupts

:bash: :twak: :puke2: :boxing: :uzi: :smshot: :whip:

could the moderator please change the thread title to something dramatic so I can get in to watch??? :lurk:

...ok, I'm just joshin' ya...

Seriously, though, it takes big'uns to apologize and I respect ya for it. One of the reasons this place is the best!

Now, where is that advanced thread search tool... :D

Congratulations on having the courage to make a public apology. We're all human... and show it sometimes. It takes some maturity, humility, wisdom and strength of character to apologize. :thmbsp:

The great thing about this board is that people here understand that. They are, as has been noted already in this thread, a very civil, gentlemanly and tolerant group of people, ready to forgive and forget; generous with their knowledge and always willing to help others, whether newbies or experienced techs. Heck, they even tolerate my overly-long posts, sometimes warped sense of humor, and the fact that I like BOTH Marantz and Sansui gear. :D This is, without a doubt, the NICEST group of people in a single online discussion board that I've ever encountered.

So what were you apologizing for, again? Oh, who cares... it's forgotten already! :D

Alex,
Good way to go, My hats off to you! Well done! Now let's get back to those alexkerhead posts I've come to enjoy.
