Hi, I picked this up a few weeks ago, just got it on the bench for a check.

Warmed up with Variac..It works! Needs some cleaning and bulbs!

Radio Shack made some good stuff..

Thanks,
John.:music:

Don't sell the STA-52 and 52B short. Considering their price range, they are very good receivers. There is quite a bit of information about them on AK and elsewhere.

I have a 52B that has been in the family since new (around '79 or so). I had it in college then my dad took possesion for a number of years and now it lives in my work office. It still sounds nice and looks like new except for some burnt bulbs. I am actually considering having the thing refurbed even though the cost would far exceed the actual value of the unit, but for sentimenatal reasons it would probably still be worth it to me.

I ordered the fuse lamps for the dial, 12v .15a. I checked the voltage at the lamps and it is 14.65v? Is that why the lamps failed?

Thanks,
John.:music:

I think it's just their age. One of the common things to do when buying 70s equipment. Replace them and you're good for another 30 years.

Nice pick-up!
Its a solid nice little piece. I use mine currently for driving my patio speakers. I would not expect to drive anything substantial with them but it will work for an office or bedroom set-up.
