What would you reccommend. I have a Pioneer SX 1050 currently, and just wanted to know how this receiver matches up with the speakers. What about getting McIntosh amps? Im thinking about that. What would you reccommend? Thanks Oh, and 1 more thing... my JBL L100 speakers have serial numbers in the 150,000 range. Are these some of the latest produced? They were made until 1979 right? Just curious.

Back in the old days, we used Marantz Receivers to power the 100's. Still feeling somewhat nostalgic, I used a 2270 to power mine. As you know, the 100's are a little bright in the mids. The 2270 seems to match up quite nice with them.

As you already know your SX 1050 puts out 120 watts RMS and is plenty for your speakers. The amp is quite stable down to 4 ohms and it has a great lower end. Also I might add a very excellent tuner. If you have the bucks and want to go to McIntosh sure go ahead, but IMHO I think the 1050 would do quite nicely. I currently have a Pioneer SX 737 which is only 35 watts RMS running a set of JBL 4311b and its an awsome set up. But as we all know changing setups and trying new things is what its all about. Enjoy.

Your SX-1050 is one fine receiver. With the L100's your system should sound great. I have a pair of L100 currently without a job, but just need to hook 'em up, they're set up awaiting a source.

Like Larry I use a Marantz 2270 for my L100s. I've attached the speakers to my 2325 from time to time but it seems like overkill; the JBLs are pretty efficient and 70 watts RMS seems adequate.

Everything works well with JBL's. Don't make the mistake of underpowering
them if you like to crank it up. They make great sound with low power and will blow you out of the house if you wish. But you will clip the now spendy
mid and highs into oblivion doing that with a low power unit. :smoke:
