Sansui 210 voicing.

When I turn my little Sansui 210 on, it just puts out an amazingly awesome tone and voicing. It is my most enjoyable SS piece I have to listen to.

My question is; is there any Sansui integrated amps that have that same voicing? I have a AU 505, but it’s not the same, even though it’s cap-coupled.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with the 210 and a Sansui integrated amp that can compare the two? If there is I would like to pursue one for just a touch more power. The 210 is just the most engaging, enjoyable sounding Sansui I’ve heard, personally. It is the only SS piece that parallels with my tube gear.

Everyone raves about the 777/777a, so MAYBE, there’s a chance the 777 would/could be a match.

I've just added a second 210 i only bought it for the tuning meter it sounds equally as good as my first with a working meter so i figured what the hell i'll keep them both until a meter shows up.

I too would like to find a 30/40watt receiver/amp with the same sonic signature..i don't think it exists to be honest.
It's easier to hunt down suitable speakers.

I have the au505/tu-505,model 2000,1000X,331 a couple of hk/trio kenwood units and some british integrated amps atm and nothing comes close in terms of sweetness.

I know exactly what you mean.

2 things i've found is recapping and swapping out the transistors on the tu-505's mpx unit makes a huge difference (I used bc-550c)
And cutting the bypass cap off the ps cap, strange but it made a huge difference to my 505 with a 4700uf kg (gold tune)
Less seems to be more..

Not even the AU-101 shares the same sonic signature with. the 210, and it is probably as close to the 210 as can be found in an integrated amp. The 210 does have something special.

The closest i've come across to the 210's sound are the hk-330b/Rotel rx-400a.Both highly regarded.

I'm curious to hear a Sansui 800 to compare as it's very well regarded and from what i can gleam shares the power supply of the 505 with a higher/sweeter voicing.
I have passed a couple by due to owning it's bigger brother the 2000.

What about the rather rare AU-222 ? - no idea what they sound like, but it is BOTL, in a well liked Sansui Line. ;)

I have the Sansui 210 and I have found a receiver that for my taste surpasses the voices of the Sansui....the Sony STR-6060

I just picked up a 210. For me this has the same voicing as the 505 - all highs and lows, not a lot of mids. Very bright, but still smooth. Really sounds quite good despite lacking a bit of the mids and upper bass.

The 210 And AU-505 are of the same vintage, and similar design, so their sounding much alike is unsurprising. The 101 is probably closer to he 210, the 505 being a slight upgrade on the 101. All three are nicely built and decent sounding budget friendly models, no doubt.

I just put my AU222 back in rotation. Have to say it's my favorite amp compared to AU555a, AU101, AU717, AU999, Marantz 1060. The bass is so deep and thumpy, not boomy.

For being only 18 watts it's pretty amazing, just don't expect to rattle the neighbors windows.

That diminutive 222 sure does get a lot of positive feedback. I've not owned or otherwise heard one, and am not looking to add more gear presently. But maybe someday I need to track one down. I've repeatedly been astonished by how good the low watt budget models Sansui produced actually sound, in contravention to my expectations.

222 remains my favorite as well, although I think the Elekit SET amp I got is in close competition. The 210 is definitely not in the same realm as a 555a or a 717 for me..

I gotta say, this tuner dial has to be my favorite - very clean design. I cleaned up the glass and put in a new dial indicator lamp, just had one lying around from an HK430 kit. Someone had done a number on the tuning knob... Initially I thought to turn a new knob on the lathe, but then went with a knob 'surround'.

With that high end knob 'surround' a full blown cabinet rebuild seems like the next logical step :D

Haha no way. I have no space for this, nor time to do a full restore... going to be passing it on. Also have someone asking to trade my small ADS speakers for a 217ii...

But man it sounds quite quite good! A little bit of bass bloom. Plenty clear. Sounds far less after coming in from the garage. 50 year old caps...
