Thanks, B-2. Guess I can write off getting that one. :tears:
Why is that? And, isn't it just around the corner from you?

I think he's probably suggesting that the price is likely to get driven up too high now that you've blabbed and posted a link to the auction. A theory based on the false assumption that the rest of us Sonyhaulics hadn't already found it :D The rest of you guys are welcome to this one though, as much as I'd like to have a 7800 (and a V7 and 6060, 7065, etc) I really don't know what I'd do with it (them). I'm already only using one of my two 6800s and I'm trying to concentrate on (ie. limit my purchases to) the separates right now. Of course if I happen to bump into any of those in a thrift somewhere that's a different story, but I don't think I'll be bidding on any more receivers for a while.

For awhile we were sort of announcing who wanted it with a respectful refraining by the rest for bidding. Maybe if multiple members want this, you should think about it. I'm not going for it. If it is equal to the photos, this looks a real possible keeper for a Sony lover.

What's cool about these is that it has the same frontal dimension as the STR-4800 I have but is just 5 inches deeper. Sony seemed to use the same front panel design over the entire series, just adding more buttons as they got bigger. Nice receiver. Nice Big toroidal PT in there!

Ha, ha, ha.......like this is some sort of secret from others on AK (or anywhere, for that matter). "False assumption....." I make no assumptions. False or otherwise. And these will cost what they cost and all have an equal chance at them. Would much rather alert all AKers who might be interested than the self annointed 'select few' who think is their secret. As bolly said, bid high and bid often. :D

I was just kidding!! I've already got a nice one. The one I really WANT is the V7.

Tongue in cheek. . .

I have a 5800 and thats plenty for my uses. I also had a 4800 that was very nice and much more grunt than one would expect.

My 5800 has, without a doubt, the very best AM tuner going unless you buy one dedicated to AM. I have never heard a receiver bring in AM like this guy does. Hold it too. . .

I'm gonna fire up the 7800 and see if it is so fortunate. Never even thought of it! Thanks!!!
