Sony TC-250A

just picked one of these up cheap... it sort of works , needs cleaning... was wondering what if any difference is there between this and the TC-250 ?

Thanks that was the first thing I did ... but still does not mention the difference between the two...if any... googling for an answer brings up nothing...physically they look Identical.. so I assume one has a added feature the other does not?....

A quick comparison of the schematics show different transistors were used and the circuitry was altered.

this one plays ok... but absolutely zero bass from it... I assume is the head is worn out...real tinny sounding

head wear usually affects the high freq. If there is no bass, would suggest the caps are dried out and in need of replacement.

Yes ... after further investigation the VU meters are barely moving at all.. no signal getting though , not looking fwd to changing the caps , the board is so crammed and 10 wires need to be removed just to access the the top of the board...
