Stoled a HP signal generator

Picked up a HP 8656A for a very reasonable price. I have a B&K E200D RF signal generator that I got from my Dad.It worked but..not very well. This HP is much easier.Anyone else have/use one.? I'm alot more familiar with HP,Wavetek & Gigatronic FSS's,from the USAF carreer, this one is a piece of cake.

We have a couple of these at work. Really nice generator. Wish it had stereo modulation. These would be really nice for use for FM alignment, especially for a synthesized tuner, where you need the transmit frequency to be exact.

HP's first "low-cost" synthesized signal generator. It's good for AM and FM alignment, but NOT for single sideband or other narrow-band work. I used these for communications work and it was useless due to the amount of phase noise. The 'B' version and later 8657 were much better in this respect as are the Flukes (later became Gigatronics). But I certainly wouldn't turn one down at the right price!
