I came into some vintage equipment this week. It all works and looks to be in great condition. The following is housed in a rosewood rack, Technics SE-9060, SH-9020, SH-9010, SU-9070, ST-9030 and Technic speakers SB7000A. I was wondering if there is still a market for this equipment. It sounds great, buy I am limited to the amount of space this wood take up.

Fairly highly regarded equipment in the vintage arena. Probably the best stuff Technics ever made that was available in North America.

It sounds like you have one of the few pairs of Technics speakers that are highly prized. They made a lot of good gear, but most of their speakers were blah-to-bad... these, however, were great:

Also, be careful about mentioning the potential and/or future sale of your gear. It is forbidden to reference the possible sale of your own gear, outside of the classified areas in this forum.

Technics

If you are planning to sell it I would think twice the equipment is very durable and the amp can be set to run in mono at 170watts a side. i own the same stuff plus a little more of the pro series. I have owned it since new as we sold Technics in our store. Great stuff and lasts a long time. Dont kinow what you own but this is good stuff.

I had the amp and preamp but recently sold them. I had them on a watch list on eBay and saw them come up for sale from time to time. I only saw the rack come up twice in many years. Once by itself and once with a complete system. I have to conclude that the original rack is harder to come by than the components.
That you have everything together including the speakers is quite a find. Plus the components being housed in the rack are most likely well protected and not dinged up. Just my opinion, but for me that would be a keeper.

It was my uncles. He passed away about 8 years ago and it was sitting in my parents house. I have the original brochures and manuals. The speakers sound amazing. Just trying to decide if I need all the components. I think the music sounds better through them than my Pioneer Elite receiver, but I could be wrong. I have been using his old Technics SL-P3 cd player. Works well.

You should keep it and covet it as a status symbol and enjoy the wonderful music! Make room for it! Love it!

If you're going to keep 1 or 2 components, you need to just keep everything. I wouldn't part out the stuff you don't want/need. Down the road if you decide to move onto something else, this will be a prized complete or near complete setup for someone. Nice gear btw.

Jesus, that is one beautiful rack. Whatever you do, do not split it up. Heck, maybe even look for the cassette deck? I have one, chews up tapes tho.

My opinion is keep it all together. Sell it if you don't genuinely want it, or can ever see yourself wanting it, but bear in mind, he was family and your uncle knew good s#&t from bad s#$t.

The gear is highly desirable, collectable and great sounding and probably cost you nothing, so enjoy it, spend a few bucks if it needs anything and revel in the fact his gear is not parted out to the highest bidder and separated.

Thanks everyone for your input. I plan on fixing up the equipment shortly. The Equalizer made a pop sound last night and isn't working. I will have to find somewhere that fixes old equipment. I will need a new cartridge for the turntable. It spins, not sure of anything else. I know my uncle did have a few other components, as I found the manuals for them. Cassette Deck RS-B100, AV Surround Processor SH-AV44, Equalizer SH-8066. I also found an Audio Programmable Timer SH-4060, still in the box, looks like it was never used.

I wouldn't have a problem just keeping the pre, amp, turntable, and speakers and selling the rest. However, it is true that you a.) will have a hard time putting an entire system like this back together again. The pieces are somewhat high-end and stuff like the rack are rare... and b.) a few years down the road, you may find that you wish you hadn't sold a piece or two. If you don't need the money and you have the room, keep it all.
