The monkey coffin must die

Maybe some type of head phone that is fluid coupled to the ear.

Put on headphone, open air bleeder valve on top, fill with listening fluid and close bleeder then listen away! ;)

Just imagine the market you could open up for "Listening Fluid"

I'll take mine with the "Enhanced Acoustical Gold Flakes" sort of like what you can get in your drink nowadays.

When are we ever going to see a technological leap forward in speaker design that will allow us to finally say RIP to the little and big boxes with drivers.

I think it's unlikely we'll see something radically different. I think speakers are a mature technology, like guns. Note that rifles have seen only incremental advancement since the development of the smokeless powder self contained cartridge and self loading well over 100 years ago. I think speakers are in the same boat and we've seen only incremental advances, advances of detail, since the 1920s and 30s. Oh, we see alternatives to boxes such as dipoles using conventional dynamic drivers, planar magnetic drivers, electrostats and ribbons. The thing is, they also go back to the 1920s and 30s.

GChief, my man, would you believe I just bought on BT a pair of the legendary Spica TC-50's ?? They're very small, but hit where it counts.

I'm seriously giving thought to liquidation on a massive scale, and what I care about is in the midrange anyway.

Cool!! Well let me know when I can buy those from your liquidation. They look fun to try in the loft
