GChief, my man, would you believe I just bought on BT a pair of the legendary Spica TC-50's ?? They're very small, but hit where it counts.

I'm seriously giving thought to liquidation on a massive scale, and what I care about is in the midrange anyway.

I think it's unlikely we'll see something radically different. I think speakers are a mature technology, like guns. Note that rifles have seen only incremental advancement since the development of the smokeless powder self contained cartridge and self loading well over 100 years ago. I think speakers are in the same boat and we've seen only incremental advances, advances of detail, since the 1920s and 30s. Oh, we see alternatives to boxes such as dipoles using conventional dynamic drivers, planar magnetic drivers, electrostats and ribbons. The thing is, they also go back to the 1920s and 30s.

I got to hear all 3 levels of those Pure Audio Projects at a home gear showing. Pretty impressive. I heard a track of music that day and bought it, but it has never sounded the same. Maybe it was the Lampi Int and Pacific DAC, but the PAPs with the field coil driver was fantastic.
