Today's JAZZ playlist

So, I went to the hospital Thursday Morning, had me left hip joint replaced. Got home yesterday bout 1:00 PM . Now the fun begins, rehabbing at home.
I think I'm gonna require lots of music, the act of putting on a recordis good exercise...right?...
The therapy begins with some Dexter Gordon, I've been givin' this one a lotta love lately.

I hope you enjoy, Jay. I watched the first two episodes. Fantastic.
Watched the first three episodes. Very impressed with the production design, filming, editing, etc. Nice that Paul told some of the old stories but a few new ones as well. Thought Rick Ruben did a good job, loved watching them listen to specific tracks, reacting to moments in different songs. If I had one, extremely minor gripe, it would be that one of the other fellows in the band, believe his name was Lennon, didn’t get discussed very much.

But it was Paul’s show and I thought he was great.

Nice that you enjoyed it, Jay. I too loved Lennon. I only remember two brief discussions about John by Paul. But as you say, ti was Paul's show. I watched a few Lennon documentaries in my time as a fan, and sometimes Paul was not even mentioned in those. So it all evens out.

That’s probably true. Absolutely looking forward to the rest!

The Breezin' record sent George Benson into the stratosphere when that LP was released. I was working for a wholesale record distributor and we shipped buckets of that platter. I found out about 4 or 5 years ago that Bobby Womack wrote Breezin' and Gabor Szabo recorded previously on Szabo's High Contrast (which you'll see from time to time posted on this list). Szabo was over the top incensed that Benson got all the notice for Breezin' when Gabor had recorded it a few years earlier. It was a bitter pill for Szabo, he never got over it and while I may be telling tales or making one up, I seem to remember reading the fact that he didn't get the notice sent him further down the substance abuse path, which I'm sure included many more bitter pills.
