thank you for sharing, tom
The bass is better on the JBL, it is rear ported and the HPM is front ported, and the mids are truer on the JBL's, they sound slightly flat on the HPM's and the highs resound on the JBL's where the HPM's highs roll off. Has an overall deeper sound to it as well
What is your analysis of the response curves?I can understand the bass being better on the JBL's but the highs being rolled off on the HPM's is news to me. I've never heard anyone complain about that.
of course tom, no offense,. and paul, the hpm's do not sound rolled off by themselves, only compared to the JBL 100t's, to clarify my earlier statement.

What is your analysis of the response curves?
From an earlier discussion here, these appear to be the factory spec, though I don't know the source for certain:

Also, I have the HPM-100's still and tried them out, JBL on A and HPM on B. No comparison, JBL all they way.
On track, I'd say, Ray:Dang it, now I need to find somebody close who has some so I can see how close we are with this exercise.
My goal was to replace all three capacitors as well as the resistor for each crossover. I have chosen Solen brand capacitors in the past and find them to be brighter than the Dayton counterpart. They are basically the same price, and since the HPM-100 to my ears is a pretty forward speaker, I went with the Daytons as to not exacerbate the issue.
There seems to be an element of that, yes. The supertweeters are a bit of a ruse crossed in at 12 kHz. It'd be interesting to see the response without them there. Can anyone say Kabuki?
The pair I owned were not mirror imaged and I don't think they came that way. How about an explanation as to why they should be?Thanks Ray!
Best I have found, these are not mirror-imaged.
Anybody know different?
