Channel "B" the one that was broken -----98 volts peak...:scratch2: According to my TI-30X calculator --600.4 watts before clipping @ 8 ohm with 1Khz input signal..Load resistors got a little warm to the touch after 30 seconds.
Channel "A" measures the same.Clipping indicator works as it should on "A". When the scope waveform starts to clip the indicator LED lights up.

I see 20 TO-3 transistors on that heatsink, with almost no radiating area, is there something else that connects to it to spread the heat?

Yes, besides the cigarette residue from its old bar home, it picked up lots of corrosion from living near the sand in Florida. :tears:Don't know how I missed this thread til now :scratch2: Great to go back and follow it, though. 600 wpc ain't too bad! Not quite the 625 that "T.R.M." said was posted in a lab report, but still way more power than I'll need since I sold the QLS1's. The headroom and S.Q., OTOH, is EXACTLY what I need right now. The only amp that's brought as big of a smile to my face lately is my lone working BX-1.

hope you didn't give up after the 1st quarter last night! holy cow! probably the most exciting, nail-biting second half i've ever listened to on the radio. funny, i grew up a Cyclone fan, and i was also a huge P.S.U. fan during the early 90s when they were B.A.M.F.'ers, but couldn't have been more happy to cheer for the Hawks last night. i'm a true convert now :thmbsp:

Its one heavy SOB..Specs say 134 lbs. And I only weight 145lbs...Not looking forward to lugging it back upstairs...
Now, I think there is something wrong in that equation. I weight 230+LBs and the amp I checked out last time weighted 140LBs. I could barely lift it up from the ground.
You probably just kick it from upstairs and let gravity do the job? J/K!

You did notice in the photo´s it was in pieces..The last piece to drag down to the shop was about 95-100 lbs. And believe me , I took it one step at a time.Its going to weight the full amount going the other direction.Which is definitely going to be a 2-man lift.
