Only 8 Pioneer Components were build with 2 power transformers from 1970 - 1980:

In the 80´s and 90´s they build much more with 2 transformers: A-77, A-88, A-90D, A-91D, A-717, A-777, A-838, A-757, A-757MKII, A-858 .......

FYI #21: Wooden Cases for Cassette Decks

The wooden case from CT-F1000 fits the CT-F900, CT-F950 and CT-F1250, with a little work.

FYI #22: Direct Drive Reel-to-Reel - RT-701/707

All of Pioneer’s Reel-to-Reel tape decks from 1970 to 1985 used belt drive capstans, except for the RT-701 and RT-707. Those were direct drive capstans.

FYI #25: Pioneer's periodicals

Pioneer produced two periodicals during the 1970s and into the 1980s.

The “Tuning Fork” was a supplement to technical guides and service manuals.

“Understanding High Fidelity” was targeted at the enthusiast and provided explanations, diagrams, and suggestions on configuring ones system.

Both were published on an irregular schedule, and contained a significant amount of information regarding Pioneer's products, and specifics on configurations.

FYI #26: Logos - Series 20 versus standard Pioneer

The Series 20 components (C-21, M-22, D-23, U-24, M-25, F-26, A-27, F-28, and PLC-590) were all available with both the "Series20" and "Pioneer" logos. The U-24 even had a third possible logo.

Pioneer produced "THE RACK" (available from 1977 to 1981). A studio rack, it was available in two versions, which only differed slightly.

FYI #28: Pioneer owned Phase Linear, for a while

Pioneer owned Phase Linear from 1979 to 1982. Some Pioneer products were marketed as both Pioneer and Phase Linear during this period.

The only 5-way speakers that Pioneer offered (from 1970 to 1985) were the HPM-200, CS-99, and CS-99A.

FYI #31: Mirrored Speakers - an observation

The S-510L/R, S-710L/R, S-910L/R, and S-1010L/R have their mirror designation as L/R.

The DSS-5R/L, DSS-7R/L, DSS-9R/L, DSS-E6R/L, and DSS-E10R/L have their mirror designation as R/L.

FYI #32: HPM 200 Speakers

The HPM-200 speakers were 5-way speakers, had two woofers, and were manufactured in the USA. The HPM-200 was the only Pioneer speaker to include the "M409", a mid-range/tweeter combo unit.

The HPM-60 and HPM-100, but not the HPM-60 (M) and HPM-100 (M), have the same crossover frequencies.

FYI #35: FM Only

From 1970 thru 1985, Pioneer produced, in true audiophile fashion, some FM Only Tuners: the F3 (Exclusive F3), TX-9900, F-26, F-28, F-007, and F-700. The earliest one (1974) is the TX-9900.

AM Stereo became available in 1985 on the TX-110ZA, TX-111ZA, TX-220ZA, TX-221ZA, TX-560A, TX-960A, and TX-1060A.

The M-Z1 was a monaural Power Amplifier (60w). You need two of them to mate with the C-Z1 Preamplifier.
