Question re IBAM hookup:

I currently have a single 10k pot controlling bias. After clipping it out, [red (-) and white (+)], do I simply connect the "off wht" wire to the pot/resistor/cap board downstream or do I add a wire (yellow) from the negative leads of the dual cap to the lug where the "off wht" bias line is connected to? If I'm not making sense, please refer to picture.

I'm resurrecting this ancient thread b/c I finally finished the IBAM on the first unit I worked on.

I set aside the IBAM because I had purchased a matched quad and leveled them all off with a single 10k pot. When I tried my hand at building an IBAM, upon connecting it, the readings were all over the place. Literally :thumbsdn: So I put it offf for another day.

Six months and an intervening 800-C later, I returned to the IBAM on the original unit. Again, upon connection, the readings were all over the place. It took me 2 days of trying to isolate the problem and turns out it was faulty solder joint(s). I reflowed every joint on the IBAM board and VOILA: A functioning controller. :banana:

Now, anyone know if there is a case that will fit it? :D :D :D

Finally: R-122, the (Big Red) 15K resistor in the first picture. Does it stay or does it go? It is in now and everything seems to be working as it should.

No need for it now as the IBAM has the appropriate resistance. Take it out. Connect the IBAM INPUT directly to the DUAL Cap.
I've got mine on an angle mount soldered to the separator between the output tubes and the can caps. You can use standoffs and mount it internally anywhere there are holes already in the chassis and room for it.

Just kidding about the case Larry. I built the case months ago but just completed the IBAM portion. I intended to mount it outboard and just got around to doing it recently.

Here it is with fans, test points, and pots.

Nicely done. I take it the Telephone jack box is just a cover for the wiring coming out from the bottom of the 800C?

The telejack I found in my junk box and I used it to power two fans I undermounted. One you see, another smaller one to the right to suck off hot air from the thermistor. The cabling is telephone wire using the standard RJ11 telephone plug running back to a wall wart that is separately switched. I turn it on/off depending on how I'm listening and, of course, level of volume.

All the wiring you see is covered by the sheet of 1/8 ply that I salvaged from the console I found in the garbage way back when. It was too nice to toss and finally came in handy.

With the IBAM mod I thought I was finally done with this thing but, damn you, you recently referenced Dave's EFB thing and....... :D
