So here's what I did with the blown purple donuts and their replacement. I had a set of tweeters out of an Ultralinear 450, and managed to repair one of the blown donuts. Turns out that not only did I have to solder new connections onto the coil where the old leads had snapped off or burnt out, but in oder to get an electrical connection, I had to bypass the old terminals and solder straight to the wires coming off the X-over. Here are some pix....
The Ultralinears fit almost perfectly, other than having to redrill the screw holes going from 4 holes to 3. I decided to Mirror image them WRT to the tweeters. still have to replace the caps and clean and tune up the pots....The X-overs sue some funky values, 2 x 12 uF and 1 x 32 uF. Should I really splurge for Solens or something, or can I live with high quality electrolytics??? Even not fully tuned up, I can tell that these have a lot of potential....:thmbsp:
