Coral goodness

In Twang We Trust
Here a few pics of my new Coral 12 TET-1 cabnets. They are much bigger than I imagined at 39"x20"x20" and have the 12" triaxials. Pretty cool that these are factory Coral cabs made for those specific drivers.

Awesome. Those dimensions make them around 7.5 cubic feet internal volume. A BASO candidate for sure  .

WOW those are really cool cableguy!

My drivers like that are completely dead.

How does the one good driver sound?

Gary

I am in the process of getting a replacement driver from the seller. Which is very cool because there are not a too many of these drivers around anymore. The one working side sounds amazing.

Are these made by fukuyo? I just picked up a pair of bx-60s and was about to post asking about them as I found next to nothing about them. Those look awesome.

Dude, you're still alive! I'll bet they come from somewhere up north :scratch2: . All the good stuff comes from the land of the Yankees :D .

I think the name may be half the reason I picked them up! Is it the same manufacturer?

magmadeluxe; Hey I just picked up a pair of bx60's also. So far all I've done is plug em in and make sure all the drivers work which they do. I see that they're 16 ohms which is nice. The driver quality seems to be ok and the cabs aren't bad either. I have plans for stacking these in parellell with pair of older rat shacks that have about the same driver arrangement. The 16ohms is a plus if you want to stack these guys. I'm hoping I get lucky and come up with a great sounding frankenspeaker.

As much as I hate to admit it....he's right :sigh: I've been working on getting this pair since May. And Justen your are partially to blame for my love of these old coax/triax/vintage cabinet speakers. After that first visit to your home, I have been hooked.....

Yeah, the first hit is always free!! Next thing you know you've a bad habit....

I like the cabinets on those, but the speaker itself looks so cool that it should really be visible!

Update...
Well, I finally received my second working driver to complete the pair:banana: These are somewhat rare drivers and it took a while to get a replacement from the seller, but he's a great guy and stayed true to his word and replaced the bogus one. Did I mention I had been working on these since May. So, with both drivers in hand I was ready to load them into their cabinets and finally get to hear them. I unloaded the Eminence crossover and Delta 12 drivers that I had in the cabs and mounted the Coral drivers & after a brief re-solder of a few L-pad leads was ready to finally hear them.....
It should be noted that in the interim while waiting for the second driver I had done this...
http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=88443&highlight=coral
Point is there were some pretty high standards to measure up to, and I was not expecting these Coral drivers to be anywhere near the performance of the Altec/Eminence set up...
Well I gotta tell you, these Corals in their natural environment i.e., the factory cabinets is really freakin awesome.
Better low end than the Eminence, great highs and mids, very lush and detailed. No, they can not match the presence of the Altec horns, but they are are pretty amazing all same. The sound reminds me of Justin's 604 set up..., not exactly obviously but, close enough to blow me away.....
As far as the Altec/Eminence set up...they will finding their way into an Altec cabinet factory cabinet set up very soon.
Too many speakers:sigh:

Glad you got another one for a pair. I wish I had one that worked instead of the two dead ones I have.

Bill, I can see how those would be very close to the "Altec sound", and I'm sure they really sing in those cabinets! VERY nice set-up :music: , I am now officially jealous :naughty: !
