They claim the Cayin A-50T tube integrated amp is "manufactured to deliver the sound of the classic Marantz 8B".

Hard to believe the iron in the above-mentioned Cayin is up to the almost unbelievable standards of the 8B. I also wonder if the Cayin has the trimmers (pots and ceramic variable caps) that Marantz used to tune the output circuits to the transformers in each individual unit. you can see them with the dab of red "don't adjust" stuff in the underneath photo of the 8B I re-capped (shown earlier).

I agree! and don't forget the 7C and 10B. Here are my 7C, 8B and 10B.
There are a few deep scuff marks on the faceplate of the 7C, other than that it is very clean. 8B was also very nice until it got damaged during shipping. Rear corners of the transformer cage received some damage. Both are completely stock
BTW, one of the electrolytic caps in my 8B (the grey one in the top left corner in your third picture) is leaking some paint-like substance. I was hoping to find simething similar looking cap to replace it. Any suggestions???

My understanding is that when Marantz re-introduced the 8B a few years back, savvy collectors quickly snapped up the lookalike reproduction electrolytics that Philips/Marantz had stocked for replacements. I believe they are somewhere between very rare and unobtanium. Fortunately, they were all fine on this particular 8B (after fairly careful reforming).
Ran it both in triode and pentode...each had its own distinctive sound.

The skinny one looks to be a 60@300 (single value).
Cannot tell for sure about the bigger one from the poor quality schematic scan I have handy.

Piano Trios Rule
Of my two Marantz receivers, my 2220B is my fav. It has a delicacy around the high bass and midrange that suits my musical tastes very well. And even at a rated 20 wpc, it drives some demanding speakers pretty well. Right now is pushes a gentle pair of Kef Q1.5s, but back in the day I had it running ADS M9s at 4 ohms, and it acquitted itself well (McIntosh CD player as source material). When I had to send my MAC 4300 back to Binghamton for service, the 2200B jumped into service with my Harbeth C7s and sounded righteous. I have had the 2220B since I was 15 years old and it is a remarkably reliable unit, with great musicality.
