Murderous Bozaks

I just updated the crossovers in my B302a with new resistors, crossovers and the Tobin modified circuit.

They are currently slaying Van Morrison!

So far:

Green Day - American Idiot
Donald Fagen - The Night Fly
The Derailers - Here Come the Derailers
Van Morrison - Forever Gold

The capacitors are really starting to open up - it just gets better!

Cool!Are you pushing them with a cr 2020?That is the unit that sounds best with my 302s.Unfortunately it is down right now.

I have the parts to scratch build the Tobin xover myself, glad to know that you are enjoying yours. Is that a Bozak equipment cabinet between your 302s?

That is actually a CR-1020. I do intend to use that receiver, but the amp section needs to be refreshed. I have been using the preamplifier to push a big Kenwood KM-X1000. However, there is a problem somewhere in my phono loop. I don't know if the problem is in my Kenwood turntable or my Yamaha preamp. One channel won't work for the turntable. However, I get full stereo sound from the tuner and the aux input.

The furniture is made by Barzilay and are original. The first owners put this system together as a project when they were newlyweds. They chose the Bozak B302-a and the Barzilay cabinets with center console. I have the sliding panels off of the front at the moment - I cleaned and polished the cabinets while upgrading the crossovers.

I actually have a long post over in the DIY section. I'll link to it. And, I know that it has been said before, but it is true - once you get the modification and upgrades done, you'll wonder why it ever took you so long. These speakers really shine now.

I also like that you have a KM-X1000!

I also got one and it's a little backbreaker to lift at times!

Powerfull and tight sounding IMHO.

Yes, this is a wonderful amplifier - the KM-X1000 is probably the best and most consistent in my arsenal. My Alesis RA100 is very clean and accurate, but it runs out of guts for the bigger speaker loads. I do have a big QSC that is superior to the Kenwood in certain ways, but I am using it in a biamplified Klipsch system at the moment. Plus, it has a bit of fan noise. All in all, I am very satisfied with the Kenwood's ability to handle the Bozaks. If the CR-1020 doesn't satisfy when finished, I'll just continue to use it for the preamp section. One thing about the Yamaha - it really looks good with the Barzilay cabinets. My Kenwood turntable also has a wood plinth that fits in to the wood scheme as well.

I like your Barzilay cabinets... I have them as well as the center piece given to me by a good friend on here.......

Mine aren't loaded with Bozak stuff though...........

I also did the Tobin mods on my B305s.... a nice improvement. They're in my basement and make great rock speakers...not to mention there is something about that silky smooth aluminum midrange....

It's kind of a sleeper if I may say so, seeing as how it probably was marketed more as a subwoofer amp. I've yet to try bridged mode @270W!

That's me! I am using the console that I got from you as a tv stand for my plasma tv. I'll see if I can scrounge up a picture. It is also provides storage for some of my idle equipment. I never will forget that epic rainstorm coming to Houston to pick up the Barzilay. BTW, I have a Fisher 800c carcass in my garage. I remember how good your Fisher/JBL combination sounded and want to try that out, myself.

You bet! It really wasn't that bad - the improvements are immediately gratifying. I am going to the thrift store, Hobby Lobby, etc., to see if I can come up with a decent backwave curtain.

My cabinets have the original 'itchy' curtain. Search the Bozak users group. I think I read that a piece of heavy carpet would work well. Here is a link I found on the users group for batting:

I read about this material at the Bozak group, but hadn't researched availability. Well, it turns out that there are two locations, same distributor, here in Dallas and I can pick up locally to avoid freight charges. I will get some dimensions and see what I need to order! Thanks for the link.
