RTR Speaker suggestions?

Well, I picked up some nifty looking RTR Series III off Craigslist. They appear to be very solid in build and very heavy. I’m going to hook them up in the HT system after I get them refinished in fresh oak. They are 3-way with a 12” passive radiator that the surrounds are toast. I wanted to throw out a question… I was thinking of replacing the passive radiators with a functional 12” woofers. My thinking is that the enclosure is plenty big enough to support the extra driver. If I went this route, would I need to add a port or just keep them sealed, or should I stick with the original design and just re-foam the radiators? Any thoughts from the folk’s here would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't mess with them. I think you will be pleasantly suprised at the sound and the amount of low end these guys will produce. I have a pair of G-200's from the early 1980's that have the same set up. (10" woofer, 12" passive radiator and soft dome tweeter), right now they are waiting for new surrounds also. The only thing I would suggest is using an amp or receiver of 65 wpc or more. You'll appreciate the sound!
Rock on!
